OMG

Hi Girls...
I know some of you know that I plan to get marriend in NY next week - yes next week...
FH and I only plan a very intimate - low key day as you can imagine this much preperation time can only allow
My family in Staten Island are being so helpful and organising things as I'm an out of towner...
But they want to invite their friends and it's getting FH upset as he will have no family from his side there...
It looks like things are getting out of hand as my family are taking on who should be the chosen witness - and FH and I have not even discussed it.
I don't want to offend my family as they are helping so much and I dont want to upset FH that he feels left out.
I really feel like I'm stuck between a rock and hard place.
Sorry if this does not make sense and I'm rambling as I'm trying to calm FH down via email - I just tried to call him and he was soo upset he snapped and said he had to go.
I'm shaking as I type this...
Thanks,
Arlene

Can you talk to your family and ask them to back off a little? Explain the situation to them, and maybe they'll understand why you don't want to invite their friends.

Re: OMG

Thanks Egreene - just got off an international call with my family in NY...they kinda understand but still want me to re-think whether to invite their friends or not...I just said leave it with me and I will talk to FH...ok ok I was chicken...I will call back tomorrow and say no to their friends...I just want things to settle (espeically me!)
I really want FH to enjoy his day too...
How do you make everyone happy - we sooo want a intimate day...

Re: OMG

my cousin 'eloped' but ended up having her whole immediate family (8 people) there, and the groom didnt have any one on his side... when his family found out that it wasnt a real elopement, they were so upset....

Just keep that in mind when you deal with your family, how would they feel if you and your FH had his family there and not yours?

Re: OMG

Thanks siobhanB...that is exactly how many family members (8) will be there for me and family want to invite one more person...I know it's only one but FH doesnt know them and I have only met her a few times...the few times I've visited NY...
But I can imagine 1 additional person can make a world of a difference...as they are not may family either...
I want my nerves to settle and FH and I to talk again...gosh he has been so excited/happy like a little boy in a candy store until now...(sigh!) we were doing sooo well...
We are departing for NY on Friday...
