OMG my mom just called me freaking out about some very bad gas smell in the city. (obviously she's thinking the worst) She heard it on the news like 2 hrs. ago. but I can't seem to find anything. Did anyone else hear about this?

City Agencies Investigating Strong Gas Odor In Manhattan January 08, 2007
Con Edison, the fire department and multiple city agencies are investigating the source of a gas odor throughout Manhattan this morning.
Widespread reports of the smell have been coming in since around 9 a.m.
The city's Office of Emergency Management says it is aware of the situation and at this point they are investigating.
Reports indicate the odor is concentrated on the West Side, as far north as the 80s. The odor has also been reported to be particularly strong around Herald Square and in NY1's neighborhood in Chelsea.

Yup its RIGHT By my job, FH called to tell me he heard about it and was worried...There are lots of fire trucks outside, they keep rushing all around, i guess looking for where the smell is coming from...You can smell the gas, i went downstairs before. I hope they find it soon

Yeah as soon as I came out of the train this morning the smell hit me.. Kind of scary..

Channel 11 said a private construction company hit a gas line but they're still investigating if it was a line outside where the gas can dissipate or traped in a building where there could be explosion problems. I think they believe it is outdoors.

Ok great, they suspended train service by me, i hope that it works again by the time i get out...This is horrible, and i can't believe that there might be explosions oh no

oh my gosh , i was walking from the 5th avenue station , coming from the v train, i was smelly something stinky , did not know it was gas, that very freaky,
