My neighbors are selling thier house, they just put the sign up on Monday... It's literally right down the street from us and it is a nice house - but I can't believe this asking price!! We bought our home in 2001 for $275K!!!This gives me hope though - our house was completely gutted and renovated before we moved in, after renovations we had a huge kitchen w/ all new appliances, new bathroom & appliances, new roof, new siding. Since moving in we've removed a wall of trees on the property line, replanted half the front lawn (mostly dirt when we moved in!) added a flower bed to the front yard, and installed a PVC fence. Our house is also a corner lot, so their asking price gives me a better idea of what we can expect our own house to go for when we're ready to sell. HAHA I was thinking the same thing...IS it East Meadow Schools? If so that is prolly why it is so expensive for that little house...

It's actually pretty nice inside. My friend grew up in a house right around there and they fixed it up and the house is beautiful. Just looks VERY small from the outside, especially for that price!!!

Taxes are crazy all over Nassau County....$409k is a lot of cash for that house...but thats what the cheaper houses are priced at. If you don't mind living on newbridge road, there is a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath cape over there for $389k. Oh it is located in North Bellmore. From the outside and from the inside, it looks like a nice house.
My friend is an agent at Foxtons which is the realtor that is selling the house...and he said there is a rental apartment in the basement and someone is living there paying $1100 a month...so that would help out with the mortgage.

it is a very small house, and Craig is friends with the guy who lives there, so he's been inside a few times.... When I told him last night he bugged out! He said there wasn't anything special about the inside, and everything was old - no renovations or anything. Sadly, someone WILL pay this I think bc it is a quiet street, and we are in a great school district. The taxes are ridiculous though - we just filed a greviance bc they estimated a 19% increase on our house, sight unseen!!! I shudder to think what taxes will be like when we're ready to move to another house!!!

Well its great for you from a sellers standpoint! You'll make a nice profit and hopefully what ever youbuy will be same or lower taxes. IMO best chances for finding a great house is working with a realtor because they get homes that go up for sale before the house is listed on MLS so you get first dibbs, so to speak. A realtor we're working with in Virginia just sent us pics of a house that he just got yesterday and it wont even list until next friday online.

We are very excited about lthe profit we will make when we are ready to sell our house! After finding out about our neighbor's home price - Craig and I were just talking about it last night, and now have bumped our budget up to $450K as the max The taxes are the tricky part.... hopefully we can find something decent!

not really seriously looking yet - just trying to get an idea right now - Craig was talking about Roslyn and maybe Bayville too... It's all up in the air right now, we still have to really sit down and go over location preferences
