OMG -- I dont know whether to kill someone or cry-UPDATED

With only 3 months to go till our honeymoon -- Delta decided to pull all its flights from Macarthur and is cancelling our flight

How can they do this on such short notice??? Now i have to totally find new flights and possible re-plan our whole trip -- after i spents months working on it!

They offered to fly us out of JFK or Laguardia -- but the whole point of leaving out of Macarthur was the convience and not having to leave hours early to get there Plus it changes all the flight times

Im so mad -- thanks for letting me vent

So ive been emailing back and forth with Delta over this issue trying to get them to at least offer me compensation for the cost of traveling to JFK and also asking for first class upgrades for our troubles. Well they keep emailing me back that my situtaion does warrant any further action by them. I mean seriously - offering me a flight out of JFK is not a comparable offer. Its costing me time and money to get there.

So we are looking into other airlines - out of principle i really dont want to fly with them. they obviously have the attitude of they can do whatever they want whenever they want and it doesnt matter how the customer feels about it.

Not that i really think that other airlines are dying for my business and probably would do the same thing -- but im just so annoyed with Delta - the fact that they offered nothing - not even a $50 voucher for your troubles. I just think its poor customer service

Yeah - they will refund our money if we dont want to fly out of JFk - but the problem is that flight was the only combination of good flight times / layovers etc. With southwest we'll spend the whole day flying

Im just so annoyed that they would just do this last minute. If they wanted to cancel all flights out of there - they should do it at least 6 months in advance - its so unfair

Honestly i would just take the flights they are offering you so they can just book you on those flights now instead of you having to research all new flights, plus they will probably give it to you for the same price, you might pay more now.

Where in LI do you live, JFK is not that far from some parts of LI. Sometimes its great if things are real convenient but sometimes theyre not and just have to deal with it, and honestly dont think its that bad.

FH is flying out of macarthur when he goes to vegas I think, but it's southwest. It's about as convenient for him (maybe less) than JFK.

that really *****; but i agree that have them upgrade you and just take their flight from JFK because you don't want to deal with the hassle of finding another flight on your own.

I agree. Let them do the legwork for you. Who knows, they might even upgrade you!

MacArthur is about an hour east of me so if they live further east than MacArthur, they're looking at at least an hour and a half to JFK.

Oh actually that's a great idea.

if youre in nassau then JFK will be close to you bc its close to the queens/LI border.

If theres ALOT of traffic during the time youre going, how about taking the LIRR, it might be quicker and no traffic. I see ppl every single day on the LIRR from Penn taking it to jfk

Its more than an hour drive, plus you have to get there earlier to check-in (macarthur is so easy - morning flights you can get there 30 min early) - plus we'll be heading west on a monday morning in rush hour traffic.

And the flights out of JFK dont connect at the same time - so with the time to get there and the connection times - its adding like 7 hours each way of travel time.

Yeah JFK is about an hour and a half from us....our wedding is Saturday night and we're not leaving until Monday EARLY for the HM, so my parents are giving us as a gift a night at a Hampton Inn near JFK that does a sleep-park-fly--you pay for the one night at the hotel, you can park your car there the whole time for no additional fee, and they provide free shuttle to and from JFK which is like 15 min away....could be an option! we really didn't want to leave home at 4:30am to get to the airport for our flight!

first check the flights you are interested in before turning down their offer bc many flights get booked up and also alot of flights went up in price bc of gas prices going up, that goes for planes too.

Another suggestion i can make is the night before stay in a hotel right by JFK, ask delta to pay for it, or at least try to get them to do it

yeah i will NEVER fly delta again. They are not very accommodating at all..

Last year FH and I went on a cruise. And we had a layover from JFK to Georgia for an hour and then from Georgia to Ft Lauderdale. Well we waited an hour in the airport complaining about lost luggage they said they would have it to the ship before it disembarks at 4pm. So this was at 1pm so we figured maybe it was put on a different flight from Georgia.

Well 4pm rolls around and the cruise line was very helpful in calling delta for us and everything. Well on the 3 day of our cruise we finally got out luggage- it was a freaking 5 day cruise. The first 2 days were sea and then we stopped in Florida Keys so they flew the luggage to the keys but we the 2nd day on the cruise was NYE so we had to rent formal wear

YEAH it s ucked and we complained to delta...fh wrote letters and talk to corporate office...they gave us $100 back for everything. We didnt have luggage for 2 1/2 days we need to rent formal wear, buy toothbrushes/paste etc bathing suits and fh got flip flops since he was only wearing sneakers...alone the rental was $150 since it was a formal dinner and party for NYE
