I just couldnt help myself.
I was innocently talking to her about how I wanted to ask my dad about the invites and labels to make sure he had everything ok.
Me: No big deal Mom, just called to check in with dad, nothing you really care about I'm sure just labels and computer stuff
Her: Well, maybe I do care.
Me: Oh? Well, that's cool. Sorry I just thought you wouldnt care about this small stuff
Her: Of course I care since I am paying for this wedding.
(Ok, I SHOULD have known better, I should chilled.. but NOoooooooo I went instant bridezilla)
Me; You're what?
Her: I'm paying for this wedding
Me: you think you're paying for MY wedding?
Her: well, I sent money
Me: you sent me 500 bucks that does NOT mean you're paying for MY wedding, send me a check for 20 grand and then you can say you're paying for now Jim and I are paying for this wedding...
I chilled out and back tracked, thanking her for 'helping out' and how I appreciate all the money she's sent (BAH)
the NERVE
Then I had to call my dad and explain myself to warn him case she flips out on him.
God I wish she wasnt coming.

You now Veronica, you had us all thinking you were working so hard to pay this yourself getting an ulcer about the payments, trying not to run a credit card balance, and all along step -mom was paying the way? You just wanted our sympathy didn't you?

In all seriousness, you should right her a thank you for the $500 & name 1 specific thing it paid for. Thanks so much for the generous gift you sent to help with the wedding. We will put it towards the DJ. OR . . we will use it to tip all of our wonderful vendors!

Actually I was tempted to say have your $500 and shove it up your tightass! But I resisted. What cracks me up the most is that the $500 she sent according to her was …..“$120 for Patricia’s dress (my BM) and the rest is for you”. GEEZ that $380 so made my day!
Heck the that pays for the M’D’s tip … maybe.
My god this woman acts like she’s queen of crap and all she is, is full of it. I am constantly trying to control myself around her, its always a struggle.
My wish for my wedding? My stepmother gets drunk. Usually then she’s funny.

I remember the first time this happened I was 16 at a wedding sitting with her (you can drink alcohol if you're under the supervision of an adult - in public). I was cracking up. I had one margarita and she had like 12 drinks (I think it was screwdrivers at the time). She kept trying to serve me cake.
