So Fh and I wake up at around 7:30 this morning and it smells like burning rubber in our bedroom. Fh goes out in the living room, comes back in and is like, 'Um, babe, our apt is filled with smoke, you think we should leave?' I JUMPED out of bed, threw on a sweatshirt and shoes, grabbed my cell phone and literally RAN out the door and down the stairs. We are on the 17th floor with NO fire escape so I was flipping out. On my way down, I meet some cute firemen who tell me that there was a fire on the 12th floor and it is out now, so we should be fine. I was like, OMG there is smoke in my apartment!!! He was like, yea smoke rises, you are fine.
We JUST moved in 2 days ago...Great timing!!! I seriously was freaking out, I thought we were going to die!!

omg that's so scarey, thank god you guys are ok. I'm surprised your fire alarm didn't go off. Maybe you should have it checked. Even when I cook something in our place and there's a little smoke/heat ours goes off.

Yea, we literally just moved in on Tuesday and we didn't even think to check the batteries in the smoke alarm. Fh checked after the fire and he replaced them.

hahah, I know, he was like hesitant and didn't know what to do! I literally RAN out of the apartment and left him behind!

We're moving to the 29th floor of a highrise. OK, made a note to check fire alarms and purchase fire extinguishers. Jeez

That is so scary....so weird ...same thing happened at my building in NYC at 2am...i woke up bc the Fire Department rang my bell and than I smelled smoke...so scaryyy
