soooo yesterday i had an interview for a 3rd grade teaching position and i thought it went really well but i didnt get my hopes up bc its soo hard and competitive to get a job on long island
anyways, this morning i got a phonecall that im going to the superintendent tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!!! ive never gotten that far on an interview and im beyond excited but i still dont want to get my hopes way up yet.
so questions for u girls- if u make it to the superintendent do u basically have the job? is it a full interview? or is it basically just talking about the position and signing papers?
please tell me your experiences cause i dont want to get my hopes up and be stuck teaching in brooklyn another year!
btw- how do i tell my current principal if i got the job???

Sooo i thought the interview went REALLY well with the superintendent...they even told me to call my principal and give her a heads up that they will be calling
but.... the principal of the school i interviewed at just called me to tell me that i didnt get it! I swear it must have been the lady that was right after me..bc they certainly made me feel like i had the job during the interview
but the principal called and said that she really liked me and i was her choice and bc of politics and whatever else the superintendent chose someone else..but she said that she was truely dazaled by my interview and that she will keep my name fresh in her mind if anything else opens up and she will send my resume over to a few places thats she knows..but now im really upset uhhhh i knew i shouldnt have gotten my hopes up..so anyways i could use a few hugs!

Jenise, don't worry. At least your name is out there now and maybe she'll reccomend you to someone else! I know it stinks because you got your hopes up. The same thing happened to me with another position at a different school and I was crushed . Looking back at it now...I know it wasn't meant to be. Everything happens for a reason. I know hearing that doesn't really make you feel better but I hope it helps!!

Aw sorry! But it is great that she is keeping you in mind and I am sure you rocked the interview so if something does come up you will be right in!

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get it. I'm a teacher too....well trying to be. It's impossible to get a position at a good school these days. I've been subbing at a school I really want for the past year. The principal promised me a position, but who knows? I'm holding my breath, otherwise I'm screwed. By the way, how do you spend your summers? I've been going out of my mind. Besides cooking, cleaning, reading and communicating with other teachers (everyone else is at work) there's really nothing to do. Oh ye, there's the wedding planning too, which no one really wants to hear about

Awww-sorry--teaching is a difficult field. Especially at the elementary level.

im a teachers aide but when i went to the superintendent it was talking about the position pay and signing!!!!!!! good luck.

I'm so sorry. I feel terrible for you. I am also looking for a job in LI and know the feeling. It is so frustrating and overwhelming. I hope things work out for you soon. If not, good luck this year. That is what I have been telling myself!
