soooo yesterday i had an interview for a 3rd grade teaching position and i thought it went really well but i didnt get my hopes up bc its soo hard and competitive to get a job on long island
anyways, this morning i got a phonecall that im going to the superintendent tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!!! ive never gotten that far on an interview and im beyond excited but i still dont want to get my hopes way up yet.
so questions for u girls- if u make it to the superintendent do u basically have the job? is it a full interview? or is it basically just talking about the position and signing papers?
please tell me your experiences cause i dont want to get my hopes up and be stuck teaching in brooklyn another year!
btw- how do i tell my current principal if i got the job???

Sooo i thought the interview went REALLY well with the superintendent...they even told me to call my principal and give her a heads up that they will be calling
but.... the principal of the school i interviewed at just called me to tell me that i didnt get it! I swear it must have been the lady that was right after me..bc they certainly made me feel like i had the job during the interview
but the principal called and said that she really liked me and i was her choice and bc of politics and whatever else the superintendent chose someone else..but she said that she was truely dazaled by my interview and that she will keep my name fresh in her mind if anything else opens up and she will send my resume over to a few places thats she knows..but now im really upset uhhhh i knew i shouldnt have gotten my hopes up..so anyways i could use a few hugs!

sorry hun!! BUT that was an awesome compliment that you got so you def know you are capable and compitent (not that you didnt think you were - but its nice to hear) if she said that she was that impressed and was going to do all that - then im sure she is - i dont think she wouldhave said she will send out your resume if she wasnt going to (so much better than what everyone says 'We'll keep it on file')

I'm so sorry that happened!!! You should keep a positive outlook though - having someone call a few places FOR you because you were so wonderful is a GREAT thing...you never know what could happen!!!

Sorry to hear that Jenise. It just wasn't supposed to happen. Remember everything happens for a reason and you didn't get that job b/c a better one is around the corner

thanks! i know she really did sound like she felt so bad that she couldnt give me the job on the phone...it wasnt the usual 'were sorry but we chose someone else but we'll keep u on file' that i have gotten in the past..im just dissapointed that i got my hopes up bc ive never gotten to the superintendent interview before..ive gotten pretty far on interviews (second interviews, demo lessons, etc..) but never to superintendent before so i was so excited thinking i might actually have a long island job...not to mention that FH got a long island job this year so now i have to travel by myself to brooklyn everyday

I would ahve def gotten my hopes up as well! Don't be discouraged, like she said.. its so political - which is so unfair. At least she called you! I bet she will def keep her eyes open for you!!!!
I went on an interview in bayshore, interviewed with the principal AND the superintendent at the same time. They liked me, called me back to do a demo. I even took off work to go to the class to familiarize myself with them (it was self contained), did my demo - the teacher whose class it was raved, said that it was great (truly honest), she said i was the only one who took the time to come in and learn the kids before the demo, my friend worked there and she said that she heard great things about how i did.. so now i was all excited... I waited and waited.. i never heard ANYTHING from them.. i finally called my friend and was like .. whats up? she told me they hired a girl who was a sub there and whose mother knows someone.. blah blah.. but i was PO that they didnt even call!

I am sorry...but you will find something in time for sure...think of the interview as practice and now you can be even more comfortable at the next one
