So I just got back from lunch and noticed something out of the corner of my eye... I looked at my ring and noticed that one of the diamonds was missing!!!! I ran around my office all frantic and found it!!! But now I will have to go back to Zales and have it put back in. I hope they don't have to send it away! I would be so upset without it!
Thank God it wasn't the center stone! It was one of the little ones around the big one. I can't believe I actually found it!!! I need to get this thing insured asap! Ladies if you haven't, take my advice.... do it soon!

Yeah, I am sick just thinking about what if the center stone fell out or if I didn't find the one that fell out. I'm very sad looking at it... can't wait to get it fixed!!!!

OMG, Thank God you Found it. I too would be sick to my stomach. I worry everyday about losing my diamonds. I got my ring ensured the week I got it. I am paranoid, but this plan will replace no matter if it is stolen, damaged or I carelessly take it off in public and lose it. Consider going to Allstate, I got a good price by taking out renters insurance and claiming this as a rider to that policy.

You can get insured with Jeweler's Mutual via the application on-line. I am pretty sure the mailing date is the insured date.
They have the best pricing of all the places I checked including my homeowners/car insurance co. (Liberty Mutual).

I think a stone around the center stone fell out - not the stones in the band. The stones around the center stone look prong set.

It wasn't one of the ones that are on the band. It's one of the ones that surround the center stone. So it's not channel set. I just called Zales and they said to bring it in, and they'll send it out. I'm nervous about sending it out!!! What if something happened to it? And, I don't want to not have it for a full week. I know it sounds corny, but it will be sad to look at the bare finger!!! Only you girls would understand!!! :)

I happened to have my camera at work... here's what it looks like... notice the black spot on the left side... that's where I'm missing the diamond.
don't take it to Zales - you should be able to get it re-set for a minimal cost somewhere else, and they'll never take it out of your sight. Are you in Nassau? Suffolk? I'm sure we have some recommendations

FH was instructed (by me and every female member of my family) not to put an uninsured ring on my finger. I work in a dangerous neighborhood and would not risk losing it or getting it stolen. If someone had a gun to my head, I'll gladly hand my ring over. I even gave him my renter's insurance policy number, agent, and fax number. When he was ready, all he had to do was fax over the appraisal and it would be insured immediately. It is so important to insure your investment. I think we all forget sometimes that an engagement ring is in fact an investment as well as an heirloom filled with sentiment.

I didnt even wear my ring until it was insured. Get it insured and go somewhere where they set it in front of you.
