OMG my final list is.......

Over 200 people and we accounted for like 150 when we first started with a minimum at our hall of 120 which we thought we would just make.

What are we supposed to do, we can't afford that many people and we can barely cut anyone off.

i feel your pain merrie. our final list finished at 250. our gty is 175. we would not and could not cut anyone off so our invites are going out to 250 people next week.
we are though already aware of at least 20 no's.

Don't worry too much. We freaked out too. We had wanted 150 figured we would have about 160 and ended up having a list of 209 (after we cut people). Turns out we only had 145 people come. Afterwards (and still now) we are disappointed that we did not invite some people that we wanted to

Bottom line....you usually get more no's than you think you will

I went over the list of people I know are coming and there was at list 170 something definate's so that still leaves over 40 people that might or might not come but that 170 is still 50 people over what we thought, that is alot of extra money to the hall. plus more tables so more centerpieces, more gifts more everything,

I dont' know what to do, we aren't getting any help from either parents and very behind in saving from our little break and me not working and dan being out of work for over a month in january.

Thanks for letting me vent, I am starting to get really scared!!

you need to just cut back. easier said than done, but don't stress yourself out and go into debt over this. depending on the number of OOT guests you may get more no's than you expect. really assess your financial situation and do what you can, not what everyone else wants.

we set 80 guest minimum, want ~100, max we will pay for is 125. we currently have a guest list of 178 but a lot are OOT and/or we know they will not come.

i may be out of work in the coming months and we factored this into the equation as well...

I definitely understand!! I wanted (still do) 150 max. When we got all the lists together, it's 234. I had to choose my battles though and with whose paying for it, I can't really cut either. What's the maximum your hall allows?

Oh, meant to add: if the overage is on parents' lists and they're not contributing you should give them a limit. If they go over they have to be willing to contribute for that many people. If they stay under your maximum for them, you get your numbers. It's a touchy situation but it seems like this may be your only option.
