So I came home tonight from dinner w/my FH and as I took off my ering I hear a slight 'clink' sound. I always check my stones b/c I heard that they can come loose, well sure enough, my center stone is LOOSE!!! I almost had a panic attack b/c all I could think is 'what if I hadn't noticed?' We have it fully insured, but there's so much sentimental value associated with it that I would be devastated. Luckily I'm going to get my jeweler to fix it ASAP tomorrow morning, but it was definitely nerve wracking. I mean we just had the ring made in JULY!! W-T-F Dude?

OMG sorry to hear that! At least you caught it before really losing it. This happens so much- it's always a good idea to have your jeweler check it routinely like every 6 months to make sure the prongs are tight.

Re: OMG My stone is loose!!!
This is like my biggest fear -- I have nightmares that I am going to wake up and the diamond is going to be gone!! We haven't insured it yet but I keep telling FH he has to ASAP! Thank goodness you caught it in time!

Yeah, it makes me sick to think about it. It has 4 prongs, but my jeweler said 4 prongs is fine. I don't know if it's b/c it's a raised setting? Or b/c the center stone is kinda large (which makes me even MORE paranoid), but it's definitely upsetting. Like you, I've also literally had nightmares about loosing the stone. I would be devastated! I mean it's great that we have insurance on it, but it wouldn't even be a matter of the money...I would be broken hearted.

I had the same thing happen about 5 months after I got my ring and mine is high set with 4 prongs as well. I think its just easier to knock it on things with a high set stone.
Sorry it happened to you:(

Jeweler's Mutual. We don't own a house, so we couldn't take out a rider policy on our home owner's insurance, and my FH literally wouldn't leave the store w/out having the ring insured, lol. I'm happy he didn't.
