OMG Please Help!

OMG Please Help!

I'm beginning to lose my mind. After tomorrow FI and I will have seen 10 venues and, for various reasons, haven't chosen one. Part of my problem is that, though we haven't set a date, I've kinda fallen in love with a date and either it's already booked or we're not in love with the venue. Here's a list of places we've seen or will see:

1. Flowerfield (showcase): wasn't for us, we were very interested in Land's End so we went for the vendors. Plus it started our searching process.
2. The Venetian Yacht Club: loved it, but since it was still early, didn't book anything, 'OUR DATE' WAS BOOKED 3 DAYS AGO!!!!!
3. Land's End: Fell in love with the look and feel (except the ceiling) but not the price! Plus I later found out 'our date' wasn't available.
4. Timber Point: went there on a whim on our way home from LE, not what we are looking for.
5. San Souci: FI had heard about it so we went but again was not what we are looking for.
6. Crescent Beach Club: very beautiful, like walking onto a cruise ship. I was afraid my wedding would become to 'beachy' for me and I was not thrilled with their listed menu, which the BM did not go over with us. She instead stated that she was going to send us home with the info and would go over the menu after we booked. It seemed as though she was trying to sell the space more than an event. I dunno, jsut not one of our top, but it was very beautiful.
7. Chateau La Mer: FI and I love the ourdoor cocktail hour patio, but FI didn't like the indoor setup and thought the reception room was a bit too small.
8. Chateau Briand: very nice both inside and out, FI LOVES the outdoor oasis and loves the indoor cocktail hour space. I just wish the location itself was not so close to us; we pass it all the time. Plus my neighbor's daughter just booked her wedding there. It's possible we'll be invited and it's 3 months before mine. I'm not going to sit at someone else's wedding and compare it to mine. NOPE
*9. Lombardi's on the Sound (today)
*10. Fow Hollow (tomorrow)
*11. Crest Hollow CC (tomorrow)

*Haven't seen yet.

Look at that,I was off by one on my original count now that I look at it all laid out. Needless to say, I'm overwhelmed, becoming very stressed out and I'm ready to give up and elope, which would not make me happy. I want to enjoy the planning process, like everyone tells me I should. I never would have imagined it to be this difficult. I've alwasy wanted that 'OMG this is it!' moment I keep hearing about. I think another one of my problems is that with each place I see, unless I absolutely dislike it, I wasnt so badly to set a date and book, that I begin imagining it as 'THE ONE.' Please, I need some help and advice. I go back to work next week and my stress level is going to sky rocket. Oroginally FI and I wanted to book by next week.

If you have a problem with ceilings, Lombardi's on the sound might not be it for you even though I mentioned it before.
I had a problem with water stained ceiling tiles there. There were one or two.
I'm a pain in the neck though so maybe it's not a big deal!

If you cut down your list of people, you can check out my place, Raphael Vineyard in Peconic, but it is FAR! And the site fee is not nice. I absolutely love it though!!!

I forgot another place,
The Vineyards - its a catering hall. Very affordable! Somewhat near my place.

The OLD FIELD CLUB, a bit out of the way, driving wise I mean on residential streets from what I remember. I was a bit confused even with gps, but if your near that area and can find it, check it out. I'm not sure how the water in the back is though, as it looked a bit swampy but I could be wrong! It mightve been the time of year.

Check out at least Old field club since I think your in the area if you go to lombardis, i'm not sure since we did gps and were all over the place

Crest Hollow is very nice, DH and I went there for NYE and we had a great time, the food was good, the rooms are nice and the outdoor area is really modern looking. Hopefully you have better luck with them.

In the area of Crest Hollow and Fox Hollow is also North Ritz Club and Woodbury Country Club. Both very nice places as well.

Good Luck with your search. You will know the right place for you and your FH when you see it.

Dont stress. I went back and forth between 10 venues myself. It takes a lot longer than you would imagine, it's totally normal. I actually went back and forth between my two favorite choices for 2 weeks, it was ridiculous. I'm almost sure my banquet manager wanted to kill me Take a breath and don't make a sudden decision to get it over with. Whatever place is meant to be, it will be. HTH! Good Luck

Well, what exactly are you looking for? What type of vibe/theme are you going for?

If you're looking for an outdoor CH what about looking at The Thatched Cottage, Bourne Mansion, or The Bayview House at Captain Bills. All of them have 1 wedding at a time, and they are all very nice. Worth a shot. Also, I am partial for Fox Hollow (as FH and I are getting married there). Hope it works out for you!

THIS! Again, I may be biased since I'm booked at Thatched Cottage but part of what sold FH on it was the outside space. He was dead set on a RH on the water. It's absolutely beautiful! If you want anymore info on Thatched Cottage just FM me and I'll tell you what you want to know to the best of my ability!

I'm booked at Chateau Briand. I know what your feelings of not wanting to compare. A family friend got married there about a year ago. Inital that was my reason to keep looking around but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chateau. Plus it was fairly reasonable. Plus the added a few things & cut down my minimum.

Re: OMG Please Help!

That's tough.. I think you should narrow down the type of venue you are looking for and pick 2-3 from your list. Then figure out what dates they do have available and hopefully it won't be too far off from your desired date?

Re: OMG Please Help!

Thanks everyone. Well FI and I really wanted a RH on the water, we are aware what that'll do to our price so we opened ourselve up to a nice outdoor cocktail hour. we are looking at around 185 guests (give or take, more likely give) and our date, I'm becoming supersticious about. I knwo I now sound crazy but still, I need all the help I can get. It's a Friday or Saturday in July 2013. To top off my stress, I have no one to help me return an overdue rental car from a car accident I was in a month ago, they're now going to charge me 3 extra days and I've had abdominal cramping for over a week now that I haven't told anyone about. I can't get to the doctor today and take care of my car issues plus we're scheduled to see another venue at 4 which we need travel time for. I'm losing my mind!

This! If you are looking for a venue on the water definately take a look at Bridgeview. Kathy and Eric are both really great to work with. The food is AMAZING as well! Check out pictures from my album.

I was so excited to see Old Field Club, but was soooo disappointed! The place was in serious need of a paint job on the outside & the cocktail room was super tiny. The reception room was BEAUTIFUL! But that was about all I liked. Plus they were VERY expensive. Probably the most expensive that I had seen in the 10 places I looked.

Re: OMG Please Help!

I understand the idea of 'falling in love with' a specific date. But if you think about it, the date doesn't really matter, the day is going to make the date. Does that make sense? lol Once you have your wedding on whatever date it is, it becomes special to you. You may not be able to get your dream venue AND your dream date, so wouldn't you rather have your dream venue? The place will make the memories, the date is just a number.

If you loved Land's End except the price and the ceiling, you can do what I did. Pick an offseason date (a friday in April, for example) and get the draping on the ceiling so its not such an eyesore (I think I have a picture in one of my albums.

Obviously I'm partial to Land's End. :) I saw quite a few places before making a decision, too. Have you tried looking at Bridgeview Yacht Club? That was one of our top 3.

Hope your appointments go well this weekend! Good luck and congratulations!

Re: OMG Please Help!

I don't know what your budget it is but If you want on the water check out the Riviera in Massapequa, they are reasonably priced I think and host 1 wedding at a time. Swan Club also is on the water and is priced reasonably. I looked at 17 halls before I walked into Sand Castle and got that this is it feeling, I actually cried because I was so happy and knew that I was finally done looking! I canceled 3 other appointments at other halls that I had lol You'll know the place when you find it.

I agree with everyone who said to check out Bridgeview. Also, Captain Bills, the Riviera, Danford's, and although it's not on LI try Marina del Rey right across the Throgs Neck Bridge. A friend of mine had theirs there and it's gorgeous.

Re: OMG Please Help!

I was in the same boat as you. My fiance and I looked at 9 different venues and eventually I started to get really confused. When we walked into Land's End however, we both knew we would have our reception there. However we had to compromise to get this venue. We wanted a Saturday but due to finances we switched to a Friday. I also have a weird loathing of prime numbers (strange i know) and we are getting married on the 29th. I thought I wouldnt like the date as much but at the end of the day, the date doesnt really make the difference to us- we wanted to have a good party and knew this would happen at Lands End. I hope everything works out for you!
