how many different vendors did you look at before booking? I know some book the first photographer or florist they see, but others meet with 15 or so. Not including RH, trying to get an average of how many places were checked out. Thanks

we checked out: 3 halls 1 florist 1 DJ 8+ photogs 1 officiant

Hmm.. I've been really bad.. I know what I've wanted. Our RH is the only one we looked at and booked it. Our Videographer/Photographer was the second we looked at. DJ was the only one we looked at. I did research though. I read reviews and weened out the ones I knew I wouldnt see at at all and chose favorites based on reviews and work.

as you can tell from my name, i have some difficluties in the decision dept.
i think i saw every reception hall in the tri-state and i could write a book on photographers.
i thought i was nutty, then i saw the poll and now i'm convinced i'm out of my mind!

I must say now that I think about it, I looked at only 2 vendors for each. For limos, I did look at 3 vendors.
ETA: The reason why I only looked at 2 vendors each time is I took the advice of my hall, who they recommend most and I happened to like everyone I met with and had good feelings about each of them. Since I had a great feeling about each of them, I did not feel that it was necessary to keep looking.

I havent really started looking yet, thats why I am asking. Knowing me, I am perfectionistic enough to want to go to EVERY vendor in our budget, and barter with the ones that arent to get them into our budget, because I want the best for my money

we looked at/met with... 1 RH (Crescent Beach Club) 1 florist (Flowers by Brian) 3 photographers (Patken, Something in Blue, and Velvet which we booked) 1 dj/mc (not an LIW vendor) 1 cake person (Collette Foley)
and bought my dress the first time I went dress shopping (at Kleinfeld -- Justina McCaffrey dress).
I did my research beforehand... looked at Brides' Reviews and asked around. Definietely pick vendors that you feel comfortable with! I like to put a lot of trust into my vendors, and just let them do what they're best at! If it makes you feel better to look at 20 vendors before booking, then do that! It's your wedding, and you'll know when you find a place or vendor that you love, whether its the first you see or the 40th

Same here since we don't live in NY and cannot get to vendors that easily. We did not see our RH until over a month after it was booked and a payment was made. We went on my parent's suggestion and other recommendations.

i did a lot of my booking based on reviews and word of mouth and how we clicked!! and of course money talked!! but if you were someone i liked i would let that slide.

us too...we knind of knew off the bat who we wanted to go with and so we looked at a few (5?) RH and 3 churches but went with the 1st DJ, Florist, Photographer, and Make-Up person we met w/....
