If you are flexible on your date you migiht want to consider a Thurs night wedding. You will definitely be able to get that price on that day. I was quoted 65-70 pp at Westbury Manor, Sans Souci, Fox Hollow and Douglaston Manor for a Thurs night.

Re: On budget wedding venue help
Even if you see that a venue charges $100 a head you have no idea what # of guests that's based on (probably a wedding half your size). Most halls are just looking to make 'X 'amount of money for a given night... so the price per guest is entirely dependent on how much the hall is looking to make for that date.
You should call some halls and instead of asking them what the price is per person, ask them for the overall price for the date. With 300 people the price will surely go down quite a bit and you should have NO problems finding a hall within your price range.

Re: On budget wedding venue help
we booked a Thursday & I can't tell you how many people are excited to take off for a 3 day weekend. I was scared to tell people at first & still get the commnents from those who aren't even invited but we are paying for it ourselves. This was the way that it worked best for us. We wouldn't have to sacrifice the month or place. FH & are so happy we did it this way because we are paying half the amount for the wedding than if it were a regular prime day. Everyone that loves us & wants to be there will be.

I'm in the exact same situation. It was a great decision for us. We've also been able to save so much with other vendors who really want to book a Thurs night.

Leonards gave the best price to my friend. She is not having alcohol so it is way less than what you want to pay with taxes and service but its also a afternoon wedding too.

Thurs wedding are not uncommon these days!!! i would rather a Thurs wedding than Sunday... but either day of the week, your wedding will be FAB no matter what.....based on bride's reviews, feedback from other bridal websites, your guest will come!!
dont assume anything esp with open bar, free food...and advance notice!!
if anything it will wee out the 'seat warmers' and the people who really matter will be there...
a recent LIW bride had her summer wedding @ Westbury Manor on a Wednesday and all 130+ guests showed!! i thought that was awesome! and it goes to show ... you dont have to change your plans for others... others will change their plans for you...
its your day, not theirs! so pick any day you want... send a STD a year an advance and save your $$$

That was great advice and i agree. I went to a wedding in Fox Hollow on a Thursday night and let me tell you, there wasnt a seat empty! Plan your wedding for you and give advance notice. If you are important to them----they will be there no matter the day!

Re: On budget wedding venue help
This post has really put my mind at ease for some reason. I was looking into having my wedding on a Sat night but the prices are so high and we are paying for it by ourselves. But I thought that Sat night was the best time for everyone. After reading everyone's posts I feel so much better about having it even on a Friday night. You girls are right if they truly want to be there they will be!

What about the Swan Club? A co-worker of mine was married there last year and I know she had a budget and a large guest list. It is beautiful and the food was really good. Plus, she got some gorgeous photos in the gardens.

Yes, if Swan Club can fit your size party I think it is 70 or 75 pp on a Sunday evening.
