On hold with customer service ... (UPDATE)

On hold with customer service ... (UPDATE)

for my wireless router (I have no idea what I am doing) and they keep playing this DUMB MESSAGE that says, 'Please stay on the line. An agent will be with you in a moment.' It's been 30 minutes. That is a little longer than a moment, you dodo-bird.

And my phone DOES NOT HAVE A SPEAKERPHONE OPTION so I have to cradle it between my ear and shoulder and it really, really hurts.

Someone, keep me company!!!

I hate those stupid recordings. When they are making them, do they think about people that will hear the same annoying saying over and over!

Re: On hold with customer service ...

I am about to hang up. The jazz they are playing is REALLY getting to me. How many people could be calling DYNEX wireless routers at 9:30 on a tuesday night? Or do they only have like 5 reps????

it is all new...Just had some lady on who has fun with a mule or donkey...

Very interesting tonight....

If you hang up you will lose your spot and i would just wait and then complain about it when you talk to someone...

AAAAww I am sorry! What a pain. The only thing worse is not being able to understand the person who will finally get on the line w/ you after being tortured on hold for an hour

Re: On hold with customer service ...

I *just* got off the phone with them!!! The first thing that he tried didn't work and he was all ready to tell me to call MIcrosoft, that the problem wasn't theirs. I kept saying, I waited an hour to talk to you and you're telling me you can't help me? Finally he had the bright idea to restart my router and then it worked. However, I still cannot find my network on my laptop. I have a desktop and a new laptop, yes two computers right now - trying to get the new laptop set up so that I can get rid of the desktop!!

UGHHHH I hate computers sometimes.

Looks like I am calling Toshiba now.

Ugh I hate that...
If my call was so damn important to you you'd pick up the phone and talk to me already!

Check along the bottom tool bar. Or look in your settings and hardware.

Re: On hold with customer service ...

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!

The guy at the router co. was right. I don't think my wireless card was equipped to handle certain types of security. I tried the most secure first, and the laptop wasn't even finding the network. I tried the next type, it found it but wasn't accepting the key I had. I tried the least effective type of security (of course) and it worked - and it accepted my key and logged me onto the internet!!!!!!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't know how happy I am that I fixed this on my own, without calling Toshiba!!!!!!!!

No, it was for a DYNEX, which I think is Best Buy's own line of routers. What I still can't figure out is why my network is not appearing on my laptop with the name I gave it. It still comes up as 'Dynex' when I named it 'Dutchess' after my dog ... but it's secure now, so no one else can get into it, so I guess the name doesn't matter so much anymore.

I cannot wait until it's all set up properly, with all my files on it ... I have two computers now, one desktop and one laptop. Last night I spent 3 hours working on either the router or transferring files from the desktop to an external drive I bought so that I can easily move things over .... can't wait to disconnect the old HUGE computer and have a nice, neat, SLEEK laptop on my desk! It will be sooo much easier to connect and disconnect things like my laptop, etc ... with the desktop all the connections are in the back and it was such a pain.

And to think, I wanted FH to return it because I didn't want him to spend the money on it. (it was a christmas gift.)
