on my mind

on my mind

I'm searching for a dj and I got to thinking about the father/daughter dance....
I look at the list of songs suggested and none of them seem to fit.
I wasn't very close to my dad growing up and songs like Butterfly kisses and Wind beneath my wings seem like ridiculous choices for me.
In the last 2 years we've actually gotten somewhat closer and we'll talk on the phone and go out to lunch. He was laid off recently and started coming over more often but there is always this invisible wall between us... He'll be hurt if I skip the dance but I don't want to feel like a fraud on my wedding day.

How about something upbeat like 'Isn't she Lovely?' or 'to Sir with Love'

If I wasnt close to my dad, I would feel weird dancing to a mushy song with him. There has to be a song out there that fits!! Have you looked any up?

I do not talk to my real dad anymore but my step dad has been in my lfe since I was 18 so thats almost 11 years.

I love him, but he is not my DAD, so I didn't want a sappy song either.

I chose kind and generous by Natalie Merchant. I think it fits us perfectly and it is a beautiful sone, maybe you should listen to it and see if it fits you and your dad

Good luck

I'm going to look that one up on Itunes.

I was thinking about 'Unfogettable'
It's not too mushy.

'Isn't she lovely' speaks of the moment so that might be a possibility.

Thanks :)

You can always use a brother or a beloved uncle or grandfather. My best friend's dad was unable to come to the wedding and her brother took his place. It's not the same but no one questioned it because of the way it was announced. She didn't have her dad but she did have the memory of the dance. Hope that helps and good luck.
