Anyone on the fene on whether to have a RD? I'm getting married at the venue so there is really no need but then I have all these OOTs. Which also means more people than I would like to have at a RD but at the same time...ARGHHH!!! What do I do with all of them the night before?
I'm ready to tell FH that he should go have dinner with his family and I'll deal with mine. Since we will be together the night before anyway. What do you think? What are the rest of you doing?

Re: On the Fence Re: RD HELP!
I see your point, but i have a lot of oot bms that are going to be coming the day before, and i don't spend enough time with them as it is. I think the rd is a good way/relaxed for everyone! Also a good time to give gifts too!
we are prob having our ceremony at the rh so we won't really have a rehearsal, but i just like the idea of an rd
thats just me though, i guess its not completely necessary
and you don't have to invite all oot guests

You don't know my mother. No control, it's ridiculous. I think she forgets that it all costs $$$. Thanks for the feedback!

we're not doing a RD either since we're getting married at the hall and dont have a big bridal party but we are taking the OOT to dinner the night before. nothing crazy, just somewhere cheap where the food is good.

I don't want one. LOL We are getting married at our RH so I don't see the point. I just want to relax at the hotel the night before.

hmm. we are getting married at the Rh hall and will probably not be able to have rehersal before, BUT we are still going to have a RD. I am going to pair people up there and hopefully tell people what they are doing, etc. you know my one bridezilla moment im allow to have we will also hand out gifts. we arent haveing OOT people there (doing something later with them) so its just a nice time for FH and I to thank our BP for everything they have done.

I am because i dont want my wedding to be just one day i want it to be a wedding weekend. friday night at the rd is where people who never met eachotehr can mingle have some drinks and get ready to have fun with eachother the next night ... i think makes the wedding a lot better ... a lot of weddings have strangers meeting for the first time , dates etc

Re: On the Fence Re: RD HELP!
True, it's nice to spread the time into more than a one day affair. Unfortunately, in my family it also means time to plot against the bride and groom. My father and uncle are famous for tricks and jokes.
Funny that you mention it, one of my cousins hooked up with that daughter of long-time family friends (whom my parents met on their honey) and now they are married with 3 kids! So now it's all one big family.
I think I may call around for pricing and that should throw me off this RD idea.

Re: On the Fence Re: RD HELP!
I got married at the reception hall and had no bridal party. Our 'rehearsal dinner' was more of a way for DH's family to get to know my family before the craziness of the wedding day.
His family flew in from Europe, so this was the only time both families would be together in their entirety. We wanted to take advantage of that so we rented a private room at an italian restaurant (in NJ) and had dinner. We also had speeches by my brother and all my cousins put on a funny skit of my and DH. It was more relaxed, and I'm glad we did it.
For those doing a rehearsal dinner and guestbook, I suggest bringing your guestbook to the dinner so the most important people will have signed it. We also gave out gifts to our parents and grandparents that night.
We didn't have any OOT guests, only family. Our families are huge (lots of cousins and Aunts/Uncles) so we ended up with 50 people at this dinner.

We are getting married at the RH as well, we are planning our dinner for friday night before the wedding, will pair people up, and explain whats going on and give out gifts, a good way to spend some time with the people closest to us
