Most agreed that good food can make or break a wedding.
If you were choosing between 2 reception places, both in your price range, one was very fancy food was medicore, the other being very nice but not as fancy- but had better food.
Which one would you choose? Is Decor as important to you all as well?

Id have to go with the food. think about anytime you ask someone how a wedding was that they recently attended. the first thing out of their mouth is usually
The food was great or The food was OK

I would go for the decor. Some people are not picky at all when it comes to food and others are going to have a problem with the food no matter what, so decor should be a factor as well.

IMO - food is more important than the decor! guests don't remember what the place loos like, but they remember if the food is bad!

I'd pick the place that had better food.
But ideally, I'd want a place that was really nice AND had good food...

karen, I'm with you! Most people have a general impression of a place, but they don't remember the details. What they remember is the food.

Re: On the heels of Theresa' s post....
This is hard...
If the 2 places are very similar in style (just one is fancier), then I would go with the better food.
But if the fancy place is so different and unique that it would blow people away, then I might consider it.

Better food, people remeber a weddig either because they had fun or because they had a terrible time. I don't think decor really plays such a major part on how much fun people have and I think food does.

Food is VERY important to me, decor is secondary.

I have to disagree with most( and agree with Mims) in that I remember the place. To me, most of the food is in the same general category. You going to have your choice if Chicken, Fish or Steak. In the end, I think if the place is nicer, I would go with the nicer place.

Re: On the heels of Theresa' s post....
I guess it depends on what the difference in decor is. It would need to fit our style - places like John Anthonys and Villa Lombardis are gorgeous and fancy, but not my style. Some thought Lands End was simple and plain - I thought it was perfect. So style is a bigger factor that 'fanciness'.
If the decor in both places suits you, I would pick the place with the fancier/better food.

Re: On the heels of Theresa' s post....
Location/Decor!!!! (I know that's the first thing I notice and remember. I couldn't even tell you what I ate at any of the weddings I've been to. I just know whether I like the looks of the location or not and if everything seems 'pulled together'.)
I know both my FH and I don't go to weddings with high expectations when it comes to food, nor do we think that our guests will be expecting a high-end restaurant type of meal. Like Bdmagee23 said, it's usually all the same.
The funny thing is that my sister recently attended an Abigail Kirsch wedding and she hated the food! She said it was too 'foo-foo', if ya' know what mean. It was so over-the-top that she had no desire to eat any of it.

Re: On the heels of Theresa' s post....
I was unimpressed with an Abigail Kirsch wedding too - we didn't even eat our entrees and ate almost nothing at the cocktail hour. It wasn't that it was too fancy - it just wasn't good.
I do rate the quality of food pretty high. I don't know if I'd sacrifice one for the other. I kept looking for the place that had both.
edited to say: the weddings that I've been too that have had outstanding food definitely stand out in my head.

Good Food over Fancy Food. In fact, most people don't need fancy, they just want something that they recoginize and that tastes great.
