Good Day NY on Fox reported that only 2% of the people on Long Island can truly afford their home Also, food stamp recipients have gone up 40% in the past few years. How true do these numbers seem to you

Food stamp receipt may have gone up b/c there are more programs to get them to the people who need them. Years ago, there were more people starving and more who relied solely on soup kitchens. Also, the tracking has gotten better.

As a bankruptcy lawyer, I do believe that the percentage of people who can afford their houses really is low. Not a lot of people have a cushion for a rainy day. An illess or job loss can very quickly devastate a lot of families.

Numbers sound right to me. Sad isnt it
