On the wedding dress diet/workout bandwagon

On the wedding dress diet/workout bandwagon

It started today.......Day 1 on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet. Which means no grains, fruits, sugars, starch for 2 weeks
(Except the 2nd to last day of the 2 weeks I'm gonna cheat because it will be my 30th birthday)
I'm having massive withdrawals-I'm sure it doesn't help that yesterday I had pizza for lunch and then Pad Thai for dinner....so right now I'm feeling the WORST withdrawals.

I need support! Give me words of wisdom, please!!

I've done this diet before (not in a safe way though-I stayed on Phase 1 for 3 months-can we say eating disorder?) and know what to expect but its just as hard! And what makes it harder is that I'm in a healthy weight zone and wear a size 8 (sometimes 6 in dresses) at 5'7....so its harder to lean up when you're not considered overweight.

I need my girls right now....TIA

I'm in the same bandwagon i'm not really overweight but i joined weight watchers to keep me on track ..i only lose like .4 lbs a week and workout like an animal... south beach is a really good diet i did it after i gained weight in college and it worked really well and i never put the weight back on and that was 6 years ago.. in the beginning you do go through physical withdrawls sugar really is a drug but after about 8 days it will go away and you'll feel amazing!

what helped me was to picture myself in my dress on my wedding day if i dont work out and how i would look if i did work out. I looked at past pics of where i hated how i looked and how i was disappointed and knew i didnt want that for wedding day. E-party i see my arms and think they were big and remember how annoyed i was and other events too.

Closer to the wedding is when i lost the most weight though without even trying.

Re: On the wedding dress diet/workout bandwagon

Ive been on the diet bandwagon for 7 days!! I have lost almost 5 lbs... and its a struggle to eat right EVERYDAY!!!!! I just keep trying to think about how I want to look for the wedding and how I dont want to be embarrassed on our HM. I am not going to wear a bikini if I dont feel comfortable.

You can do it!!! We just all need to motivate each other!!!

Thats what everyone says!

I know my dress is shipping from Vera on July 16, which means by early August I will start fittings-so thats about 5 months. I know I'm a great dieter when its crunch time, but I'd rather start early and do a slow and steady routine..plus my 30th birthday....I'd rather just do it now, you know?

oh yeah i am a person who is very against crash dieting, no pills no short cuts. I started way before my wedding, i started over a year ahead of time and ate right for over a year and worked out too. What i meant by losing weight at the end without even trying is exactly that. I DIDNT want to lose any more weight bc i had my last fitting 2 weeks before the wedding so i didnt want to lose any weight after that bc dress had fit perfect 2 weeks before. But i had so much running around to do from early morning to late at night that i ended up losing alot of weight without wanting to. So be careful with that lol, on the weekends before my wedding or whenever i got a chance i was actually stuffing my face with pasta and other fatty foods bc i was losing too quickly. My dress ended up being a little loose on me, it was ok but bothered me a little bit.

Definitely just watch everything you eat and stay healthy. Once i hit the 1 year mark i made sure not to mess up

im with you..ive been on this badnwagon for a while so its not even like a bandwagon now lol

Just be healthy..im nto a fan of south beach, atkins or any diet that makes you limit things to the point that you couldnt do it forever. I am a fan of eating healthy and realistically! I also know what you mean about not being overweight and trying to lean out. It is definitely tough. It takes forever and can be VERY frustrating! good luck!

Thanks Lauren! Once I get through Phase 1 it will be way less limiting.
I've always gotten the best results by far on SB so I know its worth it.

LOL Denise one of my friends who never works out, lost 14 pounds leading up to her wedding. without even trying!
Maybe that will happen to all of us too!

i know its crazy, i was really shocked how much i lost in 2 weeks, if i tried to lose that much in 2 weeks on my own it wouldn't happen lol. But not always the greatest thing, like i said after my last fitting i didnt want to lose any weight so the dress could fit perfect. But even with stuffing my face the last 2 weeks i just kept losing weight everyday.

So with you too. I just jumped right back on the bandwagon, fell off two weeks ago and couldn't find it since.
I just need to get my butt to the gym and then I'm better with the diet end. Ugh, just getting there is so hard. But i know I can loose two more pounds before my first fitting next week.

We can do this!

Re: On the wedding dress diet/workout bandwagon

Oh my god!! This is my day 2 on the SB diet and I've been doing nothing but guzzling down diet soda (and I don't even like soda)????

I had a feast for the last time until the wedding on tuesday because I had my tasting with elegant affairs... oh my god the food is AAAAMAAAAZING!!

Anyhow, this is my first time on south beach and I can use all the tips I can get. I've tried atkins years ago with great results but I became vegetarian for like a month after because of all the meats I ate during the 2 weeks.

I've been on weightwatchers since november and I dropped only 6lbs and the scale is not moving. I have less than 4 months to get myself into biniki mode.

If you guys have advice on how to stay on this and stay sane, please help!

how exactly do you do south beach???? I have always been an atkins follower, but for some reason it's not working so great this time. maybe it's because i am older, but, the weight isn't coming off as fast.

Re: On the wedding dress diet/workout bandwagon

Been on day 2 of my diet/workout! got my butt back to the gym..i really need to tone up my arms b/c that is what you say mostly in your dress and pics! anyone have any good lean arm suggestions??

I am doing weight watchers....some people say that the scale isnt moving after pounds lost but that could be bc at a plateau and need to change up your exercise routine b/c your body gets used to one routine all the time...

I tried south beach.. i lost weight...but i gained it back as soon as i stopped..to me it wasnt something i can do forever BUT that is just me and I know people who have done it and are still on it eating only whole wheats no pizza etc...

Good Luck and I believe you can do anything you put your mind too..

working out alone will help and you will see changes...i hate the first month but after that the results really start to show

HOLY CRAP! I remember phase 1! I feel your pain!!!! Hang in there...1 more week to go and then you are on phase 2. Just try drinking lots of water and chew gum to keep your mind off it.
