write your parents as Mary and John Smith instead of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith?
I liked the way my own name looked for once on the sample invitations my daughter made up on the computer and I was wondering what everyone else did.
Plus girls, I think I know this but I'll ask while I'm taking up your time anyway.
When the groom's parents are divorced, their names should be written: Helen Jones Frank Jones
not
Helen and Frank Jones. Right?
Thanks so much.

Re: On your invitations did anyone...
We are saying 'Together with our parents' and not naming them but honoring both sets at the same time.

we will probally do 'together with our parents' too. I have divorce involved and I think it's easier and looks better.

Ours said:
Ms. Suzanne Smith Mr. Raymond Jones Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Adams invite you to share in the joy of the marriage of their children
Jamie Lynn and Frank
My parents are divorced. My Mom is remarried but wanted Ms.
I do have to tell you we did get some bizarre checks because of this.
We got:
3 Mr. & Mrs. Frank Smith (DH with stepfather's name)
1 Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Smith (DH's father with my step father's last name)
That was weird especially the last combination!

Re: On your invitations did anyone...
For what it's worth...From the Crane's Wedding Blue Book, p. 41:
'The proper way to word an invitation when the bride's parents are divorced is to list the names of the bride's parents at the top of the invitation. Her mother's name is on the first line and her father's name is on the line beneath it. The lines are not separated by 'and.''
I imagine the same goes if the groom's parents are divorced.
In terms of putting your own name, there is a section on when the bride's mother has kept her maiden name, so you could tweak that (p. 38):
'Engrave your mother's name on the first line of the invitation and your father's name, preceded by 'and' on line two. No titles are used in this format.'

Swags that is too funny. Don't people bother to ask when they don't know? Shawl, thanks. I tried to do a search yesterday but the LIW site was really bad and I lost much too much time. I'll continue today.
Two lines for divorced parents and no 'and' between them is what I thought. Now I have to decide for mine and my husband's. Don't want to look divorced since we are NOT! Who wants to jinx anything like that?

We wrote:
Jane Doe and John Smith together with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Michael Doe and Mrs. Kate Smith Mr. John Smith
etc.
My DH parents are divorced but we wanted to include everyone.

i put for my parent's Mr. Michael and Mrs. Stacy Jones bc I wanted to include my mom's name too. We did the same for FH's parents- not sure about divorced parents though.

Re: On your invitations did anyone...
I think that as long as there is an 'and' between your and your husband's name, you are OK. You are right that the rule seems to be 'and' for married couples and no and for unmarried couples. (Same goes for addressing envelopes, I believe).
