One-Hit Wonders

DH and I were watching VH1's top 100 one-hit wonders (just 1 through 20). We tried to guess #1 - we were torn between:

Take On Me - A-ha
Mickey - Toni Basil
Ice, Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice
Come On Eileen - Dexie's Midnight Runners

All were in the top 10 but #1 on their list was the Macarena .

Do you agree with VH1? I was so convinced that Come On Eileen was #1 - that song is amazing!

I think the Macarena will be #1 on that list for a looooooooong time!!! Not only was it a bad song but it had that stupid dance to go along with it!!

Come on Eileen can't compete with that!!

Nuh-uh. My Mom's name is Eilene and when I was a little kid we used to say that was Mommy's Theme Song! She still loves it, and my BMs wanted to dance with her to it at the wedding!!!

Hmm - well Macarana was a huge hit for them. So I guess it could be #1. I love all the other 4 songs way more though (even Vanilla Ice - takes me back to 4th grade ). I also LOVE a-ha - that video is pure brilliance!

I wish mtv would play some old school videos like that once in a while (between episodes of The Inferno and Laguna Beach of course )

ETA: I now have Come on Eileen in my head.

I never realized how cute he was when that song came out because I was too young to appreciate it. And the video is still one of my favorites.

SO AGREE! Him and the chick from the video dated for a while - lucky girl! I also thought BIlly Idol was hot for a while - although now he is getting old

I freaking LOVED that episode because of that scene!

She got to date him?

And I'm so with you on Billy Idol being hot though after seeing him in the Wedding Singer, I wasn't feeling him so much anymore. Of course, he stills leaves clubs/gigs with girls in their early 20s.
