...restaurant in Greenwich Village. My stepmom and dad want to host an 'engagement dinner' there for FH & I - about 20 guests in all.
Has anyone ever been?

Re: One If By Land, Two If By Sea...
I have never been to this restaurant, so I cannot offer an opinion....but, I was reading the thread and found it interesting how everyone is agreeing that it's not the most 'romantic' place that it's rated to be....
Marcella, I have to say that you hit the nail on the head! 'Romantic' is a state of being; a state of mind; a state of your heart and its feelings for the person you are with....I think it is such a subjective thing, that not everyone will feel the same way about one place. Everyone has different things that set the ultimate 'romance' for them....so, maybe that is why lots of you ladies were not stricken by the romance bug at this place?

Cat, I would say it was more special than romantic, since for many people, spending $200 on dinner is reserved for special occasions! I'm w/ Cella! To me, romantic is feeling as though you are the only two people there too. Although service waS EXCEPTIONAL, the tables are spaced fairly close together, which lesses the intimate ambiance, which doesn't mean the company was not totally stimulating or that either was not in a romantic mood!EMO26:
