One last vent for good measure...

One last vent for good measure...

The board is still open, so why not... right?

I've posted about my contentious relationship with my evil SIL (ever since she blind-sided DH and I by booking her wedding 6 weeks before us and us finding out via Facebook...), so to get you all up to speed, now she's preggo.

Since our weddings have passed, tensions between us have eased, but really we are just cordial enough with one another to get by at family functions. For some reason though, I continue to 'try' with her, by being friendly, thoughtful and generally making an attempt for her to like me! DH says I'm being masochistic because clearly she does not go out of her way to be very nice to me, so why do I keep going back for more? I do not know, but here's where the pregnancy comes into play.

I have a friend who is a photographer and I asked if she would take maternity photos for my SIL, but I also did warn her that SIL is evil so she may just say no. But being the thoughtful person that I am, I drafted a nice little email offering to set up this maternity photo shoot before her upcoming baby shower, so I can have the photos printed to display at the shower and put together a little album for her.

You think she could've even REPLIED to the email?? Once again, I really don't know why I try....

(P.S. I should really have learned by now, considering about 6 months ago when she and my BIL were house hunting, I found a nice house in the area she was looking in and emailed the link to her. No response there either. )

I would almost rather a nasty or rude reply than no reply!

Listen to your DH... its time to stop with your SIL... she's not worth the energy!

This.

I wouldn't even bother with her anymore. Is it that hard to say ' no thank you'. I really don't get people sometimes

I agree. There are some people that just have a stick up their butt. It'll come back to her one day that she'll need you for something. Until then, I say be cordial and polite when you have to see her for things. Your good deeds and thoughtfullness are more deserved for people who appreciate it.

Thanks ladies

I feel kind of stupid for even trying, but at the same time, it's in my nature to do nice things. It occurs to me to do something nice, so I act on it. And I don't expect anything physical in retutn. I really don't want anything from her... except perhaps ANY acknowledgement or perhaps a thanks? But I guess that's too much to ask for.

So with that, I give up with her. And even anyone has the audacity to ask why I don't go out of my way for her, at least I know that I've done the right thing and di my part to be nice and got no response at all.

You've got the exactly right attitude. You tried (several times) to extend courtesies. If she won't take them, oh well!
