Do you have to get your license in the town you live in?

That one I'm not sure about. I wouldn't think so though, maybe one of you has to be from that town?

We got ours at Islip Town Hall. I was from West Islip and dh was from Hauppauge (town of Smithtown). And we got married in the Town of Babylon.

nope, if you plan to get married in the state of new york any new york town hall that issues marriage licenses will do it.

If you are getting married in another state, you must applie in that state.

I'm pretty sure you can get in anywhere in NY - it's more important that you get it in your state of residency as opposed to the town. I know friends that live in Queens have gone out to LI without any problem.

We did this and there's no problem. It's a state thing, not local.
