One of my best friends is not coming......I'm so upset!

One of my best friends that I grew up with!! I know this girl for over 25 years!! She was a bridesmaid in my first wedding!!! I am so upset I have no words for her. And she told me by e-mail today!!

I also specifically scheduled my wedding date around her! She works for the US Open and it is over the 9th of September. Originally I wanted to get married on the 6th but she was going to be at the Open all weekend so I switched to when the Open was over!!!

Now she tells me (by e-mail) that she has 'post' Open meetings the weekend of the 13th and she must go because they are having layoffs and she is afraid not to show up to mettings. So she says, 'I'm soooo sorry'.

I can't believe she is not coming. I didn't even respond to her e-mail because I don't know what to say.

How should I handle this???

Maybe you could day something like, 'are you sure there is no possible way for you to make it to the wedding? I really want you there. I even scheduled a date that would be good for you because it means a lot to me to have you there.'

Although, if she is truly concerned about losing her job, she may have a legitamte reason for not being able to attend.

I agree w/previous poster, ask again if there is any way she can reschedule since you chose your date around her. If it is truly job related, altho I know you're hurt you should forgive her this time.

First of all, I think it was totally rude to do it by email. She should of called you. Maybe she doesn't want to be in the wedding? I'm only saying this because I have a similar situation with my MOH who is ignoring my letters and phone calls. And when I finally get a hold of her today...she says...'let me call you back, IM taking a nap.' I have a feeling that my moh doesn't want to be in my wedding for reasons unknown. HOpefully, that is not your case. If you really want her in your wedding, ask her again if there is anything she can do and explain that you kinda moved the wedding so that she can be part of your wedding.

I also think it wasn't the type of thing to tell you in email. She should have called. I can understand the work problem though. Maybe she can work it out to be there for part of the day.
