One of my students passed away

I have such a heavy heart now. He was such a great kid who I really took a shine to. I work with very physically impaired children and this little boy (10 years old) came to my school this year because he had a progressive disease. He had adrenoleukodystrophy (aka the disease from Lorenzo's Oil). He had been deteriorating so quickly. Near the end of the school year I had a feeling that he would pass over the summer and was giving the classroom and family so much support for his feeding and swallowing. I just got the call that he passed away and his wake is this week. Even when you know it's coming, death is so difficult, just like when my father passed away right before my wedding eariler this year. This family must be so beside themselves now. Thanks for listening.

wow sasha...im so sorry to hear this. im a teacher too. and its amazing how attached you become to your students, especially those who face such hardships. much sympathy

How sad !! Poor precious child didnt get a chance at life. Its SOO not fair !

I am so sorry for your loss. It is fortunate that you had a chance to meet this precious soul if only for a short time. I am sure you will always remember him

I am soooo sorry about the loss of your student. As a teacher I can totally relate. It is hard. Many to you and his family. You all will be in my prayers.
