One of the girls I asked to be my bridesmaid said no

She said that she doesn't have the money to come into town so I guess that means she and her fiance won't even be coming to the wedding... great

well i wouldnt assume they wont come to the wedding. Being a BM is expensive...you have to pay for the dress, shoes, hair, makeup, sometimes they help with the shower.
perhaps she didnt have the money for all that but will still make it to the wedding

that stinks... but at least she was honest with you, right? ive read storie son here how bms dont step up cuz of $$ and it causes tension and drama.

No they only thing she mentioned was that she couldn't afford the plane tickets -- I offered to pay for her dress, makeup, hair, etc. to have her in it but she still insisted it was bc of the plane ticket

My favorite cousin said no also. She is between jobs and cant commit right now. I totally appreciated her telling me the truth. If she changes her mind even last minute i would move everything around for her

You have to appreciate her telling you the truth. If they cant afford the plane tickets that would probably mean they will not be at the wedding

I couldnt go to my friend's wedding over $$$ as well
I did go to her b-party, so I was cool with her, but still... does suk that b/c such a mundane problem wonderful moments are missed

Its a big commitment, I wouldnt take it personally. Hopefully she can still come to the wedding.

ITA... being a BM is expensive...takes a lot of money and even more time. Sorry to hear that though...but you're very lucky that she was honest with you and told you up front. Your friendship would really suffer if shey agreed and had no real part of it. It would hurt you more.

Aw, Im sorry! But at least she was honest....you might have gotten very dissapointed in the long run if she said yes and wasnt able to make it to many things, ya know?

I had a similar situation however the BM said yes and then about a couple of months ago backed out. I was very upset and mad! And get this, it was FH's SISTER!!! UGH.

aww im so sorry to hear that but at least she was honest...it was better for her to say no than to say yes and cause problems by not being to do things for the shower and get the dress and shoes and all that

aww i am sorry...i know how disappointing that must be. but its better that she was honest than to agree and then be a flakey bridesmaid. don't worry, your day will be fabulous no matter what!!
