videographer. it was 'free' as a gift from my sister and her family as my bil runs a low budget videography business...i still had to pay the horrible and rude shooter $350 for the night...my niece edited it. if i could do it again, i would have said no thank you and hired a videographer with a photojournalistic style.

I would've shopped around more and gone with a better photographer. We went with the 'best' one that Wedding World had to offer and were sorely disappointed.

I would have told my dad to be sure my veil was straightened when he lifted it.
I would have danced with my brother & got it on video.
I would have ate at my cocktail hour

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
carried my flowers when i was introduced into the reception. there was a mixup and my flowers were already at my table by then. the banquet mgr. offered to go get them and i told him i'd be fine without them, but i really wanted them.
asked them to change the lighting to the setup they had when i first saw the place. it's hard to explain but they said they could do the same for mine. they did do it all the same, only brighter.
picked a song for our second dance together. that' s something i just thought of, so it's not like it has bothered me.
smaller favors. they dwarfed our CPs.
WOW--I loved my wedding yet look at all the little things I have picked on. BUT you all really know that mine was the BEST EVER!!!!!!

told the dj to let us dance alone our entire first song. I never thought about this until the BP was invited to dance with us half way through

I was thinking the same thing!! I would have done this and added a dance with my brothers, maybe changed my centerpieces, and made sure that the Deacon at the church actually said 'who give this woman to this man?' The deacon forgot to do it and I feel terrible. But, my dad jokes and said that because he never 'gave me away' that I am still his little girl!
Also, I would have made sure I got a picture with all of my college roomates.

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
My hair stylist - She was the woman who did my hair for years and even though I'd already moved on to another stylist, I was guilted into using her. BIG MISTAKE #1. By the end of the night my updo was in SHAMBLES. B/c of that, I don't have a picture of me dancing with my dad that I really love.
When I bustled my gown - I wanted to bustle it during CH that way it was done. I was told I HAD to have it down for our first dance, so I did. BIG MISTAKE # 2. B/c my train was only chapel length, when the BM threw it over my arm my petticoat was completely exposed. There isn't one full length picture of DH and I that I would put in our album b/c of this.
Mistake # 3 - I should have hired a DOC. I think had I hired one, I would have avoided mistakes 1 and 2 b/c someone would have been there to help me stick to my guns and not be talked out of doing what I wanted.
Ehhh hind sight, it's always 20/20. ::::sigh:::::

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
The only thing I would have changed was something I had no control over....BEING SICK!!!
When we celebrated our 1st anniversary, I told DH I wanted to go back & do our reception all over bc I felt great. I wanted to be able to enjoy all the food like my guests & truly enjoy the VH!!!

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
I was too harsh with my 'limited guest list' because we were going to invite a good lifetime friend of my mom and her husband couldn't come and she asked if her son could come instead (he's in his 20s) and i said no. it was a terrible mistake b/c my mom's friend was really hurt by it and there was no good reason for me to say no. it was irrational.
i would have asked for a picture with my college roommates.
sometimes i regret not having a videographer and sometimes i don't. so i still dunno if i would change this or not.
i would have been waaaaaay more organized the night before with the tips and been more firm with my mom not to hold on to them b/c at the end of the night we spent most of the time trying to figure out where the tip envelopes were, whether they all had the money, etc. it was a terrible thing to do during our reception.
i would have bought/rented a fur/lace bolero and not been so cheap. i don't like some of my really nice pics b/c i just hate looking at that dumb wrap i had.

me too, this one of my true regrets, not dancing with my mom
I would have ordered my dress from a different bridal salon since they were terrible and had me in tears days before my wedding and still had no gown til the day before
Been more specific with my photographer as to the photos I wanted... the ones I got were beautiful but there were many photos that were never taken- like I have NO pictures in front of my house at all and my parents sold the house a month later-
Also- not the end of the world- but I would have incuded two other people in my bridal party- I regretted it after I chose but didnt want them to feel like they were 'last minute' add ons- so I just said forget it

Would have gotten a better Photographer!
I paid a lot of money and he only took 321 pictures
some were into the sun. so i have sun glare in a lot of the shots. and we got the line we can fix those if you decide to go with a digital album and that will cost you another $400. 00
i paid $4000.00 for him.

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
I wish I had joined LIW sooner cause I learned after contract signing that there are other options on LI for affordable weddings other than an all in one package.
You live and you learn, but I still don't regret my wedding day - I married the love of my life and things can only get better from there on end!

I would have given the photographer a must take photo list. The shots I have are gorgeous, but there are a bunch that I thought were standard that I don't have.

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
i have a few things i would change.
1 - actually listened to my DJ - he didnt play 1/2 the songs on the playlist and never let the priest do a blessing @ the reception. i wish i was focused on what he was doing so i could've told him to play certain songs and pass the mike for the blessing.
2 - i wish i didnt have so much faith in my photographer. i really hate my wedding pics.
3 - i wish i had made it mandatory that the BM's get their hair done - AND LEAVE IT DONE - not 'play' with it after - or do it themselves.

Re: One thing you could change about your wedding
Two things:
I wish I would have taken the fingertip length veil off for the ceremony (after my dad lifted it) b/c it was blowing everywhere with the wind! It was velcro so it would have been easy to take off. I had a cathedral too and would have just kept that one on.
I would have had the DJ announce the chocolate fountain or had CLM bring it closer to the middle of the room. We found out after that half our guests didn't even know it was there.
