I want to go back for my masters and was reading an article that online degrees are becoming increasingly popular and widely accepted by employers. Anyone take classes or get an online degree?

Re: Online Degrees...
Phoenix Online has a great program... you don't even have to take the GMATs! It's pricey, though, but sounds like a good Masters program.

I'm doing my Master's through Strayer University. In my opinion, it's not the greatest way to learn. We have quarters instead of semesters which in a way is good because you get done faster, but it's also harder because everything is condensed into 11 weeks.
But on the bright side, I met my FH through Strayer - we were in on online class together!

Re: Online Degrees...
You want to make sure that they are accredited universities...
I've heard a lot about Univerisyt of Phoenix...but I don't know much about them...
I am in a distance learning program...the school is 1000 miles away, but they have 'annexes' in my area...and I will do a lot online...but it is still a state university...
something to look into...it also only costs as much as a state university

Re: Online Degrees...
I was just thinking about this the other day. I am doing my MBA at Baruch right now and I don't know if you get the same experience and knowledge getting an MBA online.
The reason I say this is because 85% of MBA projects are group projects. They do this so you learn how to work with people, manage large products, and delegate. I just don't know how much of that you get if you do it online.
However- this is just my opinion based on MBAs- not other online programs.

Re: Online Degrees...
I don't know too much about these programs, but when you do an online course - how does it work exactly when you go to class? You log in and do what?
I completely agree about online courses are not the same as physically in a classroom. For me, the convenience of an online degree is appealing.

Re: Online Degrees...
But and MBA is a management degree- if you can't manage a project with a group, how are you going to manage in real life? I think with the MBA it's more the process than the actual book learning that you get your experience.

Re: Online Degrees...
I have to go to classroom classes as well...but for library and information science...it makes total sense that there be classes online...I have sat through some pretty pointless classes at QC on it....like children's lit...I think it could easily be done online...
i was just accepted so I don't know much...but again make sure its affiliated...or it is a physical university's distance program
