Is this tacky to do? It has a lot of positives in my case. Besides the money saved on the paper, envelope and stamp I live overseas and I think it would be so much easier to keep track myself online then having my mother and/or sister have to tell me every time something comes in the mail. I mentioned it to someone and they said they thought that was tacky. What do you all think?

Re: Online Only RSVP?
Are you inviting anyone who doesn't own a computer? Or someone who is older (like grandparents or great aunt/uncles, etc) who doesn't know how to use a computer? I think that if you are going to have an online only RSVP then you might as well just do an e-vite and not send out paper invitations at all...but then if you have some people without computers and such there's nothing they can do to RSVP.
IMO I wouldn't do it.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
We have a friend who gave us the option to RSVP online or through the mail. It was extremely convenient! We decided to mail it in though (I just wanted to) -- but they didn't put stamps on the RSVP envelopes, which made SO MUCH SENSE.
I didn't find it tacky and don't think it's tacky at all. I think it might be a better balance to do what these friends did and have RSVP envelopes (or even postcards) in your invite but don't stamp them (people can find their own dang stamps if they insist on RSVPing through the mail) and also put that they can RSVP online and how.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
I have never heard of this but I would probably do it. Yet I don't think older guests will do it or want to be bothered so maybe you could do regular RSVPs for the older guests and online for other.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
We are doing online RSVP - we sent out reception cards directing guests to rsvp on our custom website.
The way we saw it, those who did not use computers probably would not be mailing the cards back anyway, so we would follow up with them by telephone (usually older family members).
Not sure how it is working out since our RSVP date is September 18.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
I would be concerned that some ppl don't have computers....I would offer the option, but also provide the standard paper RSVPs in the invites. That way, ppl can choose which way they prefer.
P.S. You might get a lot more RSVPs that way since a lot of ppl may prefer to do it online. One of the biggest headaches of wedding planning is getting back all the RSVPs....as I'm sure you know

Sounds more convenient but I would just worry about guests who don't have a computer.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
imo I think its tacky. not to mention you have to worry about who has a computer and who knows how to use one (think older guests). some guests may be confused as to what to do.
in all honesty, if i got an invite like that i would prob think the couple is cheap...sorry if im being harsh, but thats just my opinion

Re: Online Only RSVP?
Definitely sounds more convenient, but not sure how many people don't have computers. And the ones that do have computers might have trouble figuring it out - like grandparents, etc. If you're doing it to save money, I'd say go for it and just follow up with a phone call if you don't get Rsvp's. Good luck.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
Some people didn't respond for my sister's RSVP til this day and her wedding is this weekend. We had to track them down and ask for an answer. They tell you oh they keep forgetting or didn't have time to put it in the mailbox......so I think I will do both giving people the option of online and stamp the regular RSVP so that they have that option. I don't understand what these people do with the stamps.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
i don't think its tacky either. i am giving that option as well because I feel that it is more eco-friendly to rsvp via the internet. i will also print rsvp's for older family members who i know are not technologically savvy, this way i have the best of both worlds. the couple who does this isn't cheap in my opinion. they are the type of couple that feels that most people don't even send the rsvp's back and this is just a waste of paper. its also a more modern style. there is nothing wrong with being traditional and sending rsvps either. its up to you

Its ok as long as you do not have anyone who either doesn't own a computer or is computer illiterate.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
FH wants to do that actually, but I told him that we need to do a few with the physical response cards for the older people that are invited. A lot of them don't really know how to use a computer and I'd like an accurate head count without people telling me they couldn't log on or something.

I don't think this is tacky. However, there is a good chance that someone you are inviting doesn't know how to use a computer. JMO.

Re: Online Only RSVP?
I was thinking about sending the older people printed RSVPs. (I have very few who don´t own a computer). While I would save a little money the main reason I was thinking of doing it is to be able to receive the RSVPs directly (online) instead of having them go to my parents house and having to worry about them forgetting to tell me about it.
