Only asking because I have never been to one 'Hall Related'

How are weddings at hotels?? I am not planning on booking vendors for a while, but I am still researching halls and I got an email from a really nice hotel in NJ that has an amazing view of the NYC skyline. Do you think it is worth checking out?

I would check it out...Are you definetely getting married in NJ? It couldn't hurt to just look...its a matter of your taste.

Yes our church is in NJ. We may consider west nyack someplace on NJ border. If you have any places in mind please let me know! I am not from NJ and lost on where to look

I would definitely check it out, people could just stumble back to their rooms and wouldn't have to drive!!

i've been to one at the garden city hotel.....usually their just as nice as a reception hall.....and even better the chances of their being multiple weddings at once is unlikely.....PLUS built in after party!!!!! definately check it out.....tell them your considering booking your wedding and would like to taste the food, i bet they'll buy you dinner in their restaurant

Yes but that hotel was stunning!!! Besides NYC I really don't think I have those kind of hotels in New Jersey.

hahahaha...yeah, that's true.

I thought you meant you've never been to a reception in a hotel. period. I didn't know you meant Jersey. Sorry, my hormones are a little wacky today.

is the one youre looking at in Jersey city? if its right on the water then it probably is this one and does it have windows all around with a great view? if so its where we were actually thinking of having our wedding. FMIL always does corporate events there and showed us. We decided to stay in new york but not bc of the place itself bc it was gorgeous. Also if its what i think it is then i work right there too

Which hotel is it?

I dont see a reason why it wouldn't be just as beautiful in a hotel. I would check out their food though - just as you would in a catering hall.

I looked at Jersey RHs breifly because I was desperately trying to find a place by the water lolz and two that I like (they aren't by the water BTW) were The Westwood and Vanity Fare.

It is the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City. It may be waaaay out of my price range but I wanted to get a feel on how people felt about a wedding at a hotel. Like someone said it is not very common in our area to do that so just needed your opinions!! Thank you ladies I will call them today

my fsil works for hyatt in florida and she told me that they are usually a lot more than a normal RH...she said their basic package is around $20k for 125 ppl....i tend to feel that the ballrooms in hotels feel very generic...
