Bloomberg wants to use Shea Stadium as the alternative for the olympic stadium
they would change Shea in 2009, and the Mets would play ::gasp:: in Yankee Stadium for two years until they could switch it back in 2013
Now I know being a MET fan isnt the most popular thing on here or in NY in general but I am a METS fan through thick and thin
I only hope that maybe Yankee and Met fans coudl come together for this one time since Im sure that you would be just as upset sharing the House that Ruth Built with the METS
Thoughts anyone?

If you look back, the Yanks and Mets have shared a stadium before. They shared years ago when one of the stadiums was being fixed and just a couple years ago when a tier at Yankee stadium fell. I don't think there would be any problems, they'll never be there at the same time!!

I actually went to a yankee game at shea when this happenned (i'm a met fan, so who knows why I was there, but..) and they yankee fans were SO rude. they were disrespectuf and destructive and just kept saying all kinds of bad stuff about Shea. Umm hello, your stadium is the one falling down.
I'd cry if I had to see the emts play at yankee stadium. That's JUST WRONG

I am a huge Mets fan and I can't see this whole project happening..but at the same time it would be nice (as much as I love Shea, and I really do) have an updated stadium like the rest of the league does.

What is ridiculous to me is the way they keep saying 'The new stadium will be built in the current Shea parking lot.' So what does that mean for Met fans who have to drive? Where do they park? I can't see how there will be enough spaces.
This is just getting ridiculous. NYC is supposedly a distant third and I don't see why we are going nuts. It seems to me that more people do not want the Olympics here.
ETA: I guess it wouldn't matter since there would be no games at Shea while the construction happens. My bad. I still don't love the idea.

i could care less if the Mets and Yankee's play in the same stadium....but truthfully one of the reasons FH and I always go the Met/Yankee game at shea is because its easier to get to and find parking. (FH is a Yankee fan and I am a Met fan)

I can't believe how desperate Bloomberg is about this whole Olympics thing. NY is not going to get it, but he keeps coming up with these crazy ideas.

The mets are going to build the new stadium regardless of whether or not the olympics are held in NYC, so either way they will have to share Yankee stadium while the new Shea is being built. I guess this will be after the new yankee stadium is built. I would also think once the new shea stadium is built the parking lot would be where the current stadium stands.
