I had my shower yesterday.. it stunk.. All of my moms friends from work were there and none of my friends were there... One of my friends just showed up, because we told her about it at church... Other than that.. NONE of my friends werr there... (My BP consists of all of my cousins and my sister.)
So I got a bunch of gifts, but barely anything off my registry, a ton of duplicates and nothing for my bathroom or bedroom!! I got no Risky lingerie.. None. My mom bought me a nightgown, it was long and satin.
Not to sound completely ungrateful, but I remember my sisters shower an we had a blast, we played games, we recorded the words she said to share back 'Whats said on the wedding night' ... and had a blast.. I felt like I was at a old ladys cookie party... or potholder loom party!
AND now... My moms friends ar the cheapest pople I have ever known, and I didnt want to invite them to the wedding, cause I KNOW THIS.. and my mom told me that she would pay for her friends to go.. NOW she says that since other FAMILY RSVP'd no, they make up for them.. NO- sorry... thats not the way it works.. I would have much rather used MY FRIENDS as the 'fillers' then her old, smelly cheap-a$$ friends!!!!!
ITS MY WEDDING--- WHY do your friends need to be there??????????????????????????? Is it just me???

Where were all of your friends? Do you think there may be a second shower being thrown by your friends at which you will get all of your cool gifts?

I'm sorry!!!! I can kind of relate. I wanted my shower to be low key and at my mom's house. More of a day of hanging out with friends and not just opening gifts up with everyone watching. No one listened and everyone looked bored out of their mind! Don't get me wrong I appreciate everything that my bridal party did for me and I understand that most showers are like this. The funny thing is an hour before it was suppose to end my inlaws start packing all of the gifts up (I didn't have room in my apartment at the time) so everyone left thinking the shower was over!!

Im sorry you were disappointed. Unfortunatley one of the things some of us learn during our wedding planning and preperation is that what we have done for others may not be matched or even come close when it our turn .
I assume your parents are throwing the wedding so they are inviting the guests they want? If that's not the case maybe you need to take control of the guest list at this point.
Cheer up! In the big picture this is just a little thing. You are going to married to a wonderful man and have a wonderful life together. Put together a celebration for just your friends when you get back from the HM.

My friends weren't at mine either. And I had an aunt who kept yelling out your opening the gifts to slow, put a move on. At the end we had 45 minutes left and they all left....annoying!

Did your mom invite any of YOUR friends? That's kinda wierd. Bummer! Sorry you didn't have fun at your own shower. Usually the bride is the only one who does! (That was just a joke to make you smile!!! )

My mom didnt invite ANY of them!!! I think I am gonna plan a bachelorette party for us all to go out, I am really hurt by this.
I dont know if the have anything planned for a bachelorette party either... I have 17 days left till my wedding.. I wish they would clue me in here!!!!!

im sorry to hear that... my mom actually tells me her friends are like that, but she's not making me invite them, she was event telling me who i could cut off my list
