I have a friend planning a trip for her bach party. With my wedding being this year, I don't have the $ and I don't have ANY vaca time from work bc I'm using it all for my honeymoon.
I purposely planned mine for a Sat night in the city not to make it difficult for anyone (of course I'd love to go away but that's just not convenient for most ppl - some have kids, jobs, relationships, etc).
I think it's a lot to ask of people to go on a trip for a bach party. What do you guys think? And...if you don't think it's asking too much, would you be mad if someone you asked didn't go?

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
I agree that it's a lot to ask of people. I personally would rather have everyone there and stay local then have less people there and go away.
I don't think it's crazy for people to ask this but yes, they should realize that some people aren't going to be able to go.

i don't really fit in a category. it's not a lot to ask and i would understand if people can't go.
a bachelorette party is a big deal and it should be special. it's also a weekend to get together with girlfriends so it's ridic fun.
but not everyone can do it, so i wouldn't be pissed.

I personally do think it's a lot to ask of people. I don't think it's crossing the lines, so long as the person who wants it is prepared for some people to not be able to attend.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
All good points. I guess I just feel like if you really wanted everyone there and it was about spending time with friends, you wouldn't do something to automatically rule people out. Not to mention people who say no feel bad that they have to decline! FH and I worked so hard to make it convenient for everyone. We even combined our parties so people could go as couples and be even more comfortable! It means a lot to us to have them all there.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
i just want to add that i went to college in the midwest so a large group of my friends don't live locally. so local bachelorettes (which i am doing one) are still oot for a lot of my friends. and their bachelorettes, which are local for them, are out of town for me.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
I understand where you are coming from. I originally wanted an OOT Bparty as well, but after having my girls already spending so much, I couldn't ask them to do that. (we are heading to southold for the weekend so it is still kinda going away) I might however just go away for a weekend with some girls while FH is away for his Bparty, but would never get mad if people couldn't come along... If your friend does get mad, then she needs a reality check!!!

It is a lot to ask, but I knew my MOH and I could afford to do it and I really wanted to go. I told all my other BMs that it is completely up to them- 2 out of 3 decided to go, but one said she couldn't afford it. Of course I'd never hold it against her!

That's a good idea. If you really want an OOT one then do one locally after so the ppl who say know feel like they can participate.
I'm pretty sure I'll be saying no to this one. It's a hard decision to make but my HM is once in a lifetime and I'm not scaling back to go to someone else's bparty.

id go for the oot bach party if i had the money and time, if not well i wouldnt really have a choice.
if u cant go u just cant go and she should understand that since u have ur wedding this yr and its certainly not cheap to throw a wedding.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
I'm having two - one in Vegas and one in NYC. My BP is pretty evenly split.
Since my sister won't be 21, she is planning a NYC one for everyone who couldn't afford to go to Vegas, so it worked out perfectly!

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
i am not against OOT ones at all... but i personally have not been able to go to any of my friends that have done that. I was invited to 3 like that last year and we had just bought a house. I think its ok to ask people to go, but you can't be upset if they say no.
I knew i would not have many yes's if i tried to go away, so we are doing a trip the the wineries... my BF's family has a house at there, so whoever wants to stay and fits in the house can stay too, so not $$ for hotel... just bus for wineries, wine tasting and dinner.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
I actually have only been to OOT bachelorette parties....I've never been to one in NYC (granted we live here) so I think its reasonable.
I normally don't think its a lot; however, my MOH is getting married OOT AND doing her bachelorette OOT---I have to fly to both. I think she's asking a lot...IMO.

Re: OOT Bachelorette Party
I voted for the middle choice. I don't think you can get angry at someone for not wanting to spend the money...that's just not right. That being said, we are going away for mine. OOT bach parties are what me and my g/f's have always done. I've gone away to AC for one of their bach parties and I am going to Vegas in April for another one of their bach parties.
