OOT baskets--are they a necessity?

OOT baskets--are they a necessity?

Just trying to figure out if it's absolutely necessary to make up a basket for each OOT person in the blocked rooms. If you don't think it's necessary, then should I do something small in its place, like an itinerary or something?

I don't think it's a necessity but it may be a cute gesture to have one for each room. Just a little thank you for coming from OOT and to let them know you were thinking of them as much as they were thinking of you and FH.

My FSIL did that for her wedding and they put bottled water in it, snacks, gum and little stuff for when they get the munchies.

Nothing is a necessity.....Do whatever you want and can afford

i do think they are nice IMO....but you dont have to do anything fancy

I usually see water, advil, cookies or chips...just a few snacks....if you went to costco or something could be really inexpensive
and i never saw baskets...just gift bags

Nothing is a necessity. If it's really out of your budget, definitely don't go into debt for it!

A lot of our OOT guests booked with other codes so I don't even know for certain who is staying at the hotel! I'm going to make some simple bags with a few things in them. Definitely water, since I don't want OOTers drinking LI water if they can help it. I'm still so paranoid about that (although I'm sure 2 days worth isn't going to hurt).

I'll put a few more simple things, but I'm definitely not including huge stuff like bottles of wine or anything.

Giving them a schedule at check-in is a great idea!

I definitely don't think they're necessary. I plan on doing them but only little ones. Some brides go above and beyond, filling the baskets with tons of items. I'm going to keep it simple.... water, gum, advil, pamphlet of things to do in Port Jeff.

I ran out of money so it was either menus and nice programs or OOT baskets...I opted out of the OOT baskets

no, totally not necessary... just think... if you never found this site, you prob would have never heard of them before (along with cry packs, bathroom baskets, etc etc) and would not be doing them ... thats my 1 gripe about liw... keeping up with the jones is quite annoying

I don't think I'm doing them... bc we only have like 5 OOTers, and the rest of the people staying at the hotel is just our friends who want to be there for the after party.

If we do do them, they're going to be REALLY basic.

I don't think they're necessary. We have a ton of OOT guests (78 actually ), but the likelihood of even 2/3 of them coming is remote, so there's no way I'm going to buy all the materials and components ahead of time in anticipation and then 1 room gets blocked. And really, I just have too many other things to worry about, and I don't think an OOT guest is going to resent they don't have a bag of chips and bottle of water waiting for them.

I don't think its necessary. I am not sure how many people are staying overnight so I am not making them right now. If you don't want to do a basket, my friend just put bottles of water and different types of snacks in a gift bag.

I have way too many OOT guests coming to do that! However, a few of my friends who are actually saving their money 6 months in advance to come to the wedding I may do a little cutesy something for, not well off relatives. I just want to lift the burden a bit.

If you can swing it, I definitely think it's a nice touch. Especially because they are spending so much to be at the wedding it's nice to have a few snacks. It doesn't need to be anything crazy, but if you can pull together a little bag I think it's a really nice touch for people who have travelled to be there on your special day.

i don't they are a MUST. we're doing little boxes with some snacks and waters and stuff. but mostly because we only have 12 rooms and it's not a huge expense for us...but if you don't do a basket or whatever, even if you just have a little welcome note and just some little token snack or something that could be cute too. but i wouldn't sweat it if it's not possible. i don't think guests expect it or anything.
