Are dress stores willing to take measurements for girls who are buying dresses elsewhere? I want them to get proper measurements taken, but I don't want them to have to find a local seamstress to do it. (They will be coming to Long Island for fittings.)
What's the easiest way to dothis. I need to order dresses as soon as possible.

My OOT BMs did both. Some had their measurements at their local seamstress and others went to a bridal shop.

As a past OOT BM a few ideas...
1-have the girls take their own measurements and send them to you.
2-have them go to a local bridal shop to have measurements (ONLY) taken. There should not be a cost for this.
Ask you bridal shop what they suggest. I was able to do the first one when I was an OOT BM. The shop (in Illinois) ordered the dress and when I arrived, my mom acutally did the alterations (very little were needed).

One of my BMs lives in Florida --she tried going to her local drycleaner to get measured and they wouldn't do it...So, she had her mom measure her...
