To do these if the hotel room rate I negotiated for them includes breakfast??

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
Honestly, I don't think that it's ever necessary to do them. I was just planning on leaving the guests a nice welcome letter for when they checked in.

I think it is a nice' thank you' for guest. Since I know that a lot will be traveling a far distance>

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
I am not doing it, I was thinking about it but most of my guests will be out with us partying after and probably wont even realize it's in the room by the time we get done
I am planning on doing a brunch the next day though for everyone who stays at the Hotel.

True, but I think that this is another one of those NY things. People from OOT won't know to expect it. It's definitely a nice extra, but IMHO it's not worth the extra expense. Check with your hotel, a lot of them charge you $1 per bag just to hand them to your guests.

I'm going to be doing them...but I have my FH's entire family coming from out of town! I don't think you have to do them, though!

I am doing it because most of our OOT guests will be staying 2 nights. If it was only 1 night, I probably would just do a brunch and no bags.

I am doing them, I have a lot of people traveling from out of town, state, and country. I think it is a nice thank you- but def. not necessary and if you are looking to save $$ then this is an area to do it!

Same here. We had so many people going to great expense to share our weekend with us that we decided to do them. They were a big hit. If you have the money in the budget, I say go for it! If not, no worries. Here's a pic of mine

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
Thanks ladies! I don't think I am going to do them. We don't have that many OOT guests (mostly colleagues of FH that live in Ohio and some of my family that live in CT and Westchester that don't want to drive home that night).
I suppose it is a nice touch but not necessary. Thanks again!!!

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
we're doing them, but we will have at most 6 OOT families, so only 6 bags needed.
I'll be putting a map of port jeff / itinerary, a few high end toiletries, some snacks, and a couple drinks in a good tote bag.

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
its not a 'must.' but it is a very nice gesture. And very much appreciated. I can't tell you how many weddings I've gone to and gotten one, and really appreciated it....the water most of all!...ANd if people are driving long distances they really appreciate the snacks. Its a nice gesture but not something you are obligated to do. Kind of like giving favors....its nice, but not totaly necessary.

Re: OOT Guest Bags..Is It Necessary
We are doing them at the Inn at East Wind- I want to include a thank you and a letter informing them about brunch the next morning. We'll also include some snacks, candy and a small bottle of champagne. Our guest have a ton of time between the ceremony and CH so they might as well have something to snack on.

only if you want to. You can always put water bottles (they usually cost a fortune from the room fridge), map w/directions to the wedding and some snacks.
