Ok so I posted the other day about how the Best Western east End screwed me over. Here's the link of you need it: The Best Western S UX!!!! Now, I am in damage control mode. FH thinks we should send out a letter to everyone telling them that there are no rooms left. I just feel badly b/c feel like I am stalking people. I sent the Save The Date with hotel info; I sent an email to over 40 people a month later reminding them to book their rooms and NOW a letter??? We haven't even sent invitations yet! Is it overkill? Please advise....
here's the letter. What do you think? I did it up all pretty wiht our monogram & on nice paper. Are people going to get sick of hearing from me>? ___________________________

To our Guests:
Formal invitations will be going out shortly but we just wanted to take this time to remind you to make your hotel reservations as soon as possible. As predicted, accommodations in the Hamptons are beginning to book up. The block of rooms we reserved at the Best Western East End has been filled and the rest of the hotel is sold out due to another wedding. The Holiday Inn Express is also sold out at this time.
Below is a list of other accommodations in the area recommended by Atlantica. We have not personally visited all of these places but we hope you will find something to your liking. Again, we ask that you make your reservations now so we can share this amazing day together.
With Love, Caroline & Rob

is there a reason you can't do another email? A letter may be overkill.

The people who got the email are mostly the ones who booked but I only had email addresses for our friends, really. Its the older generation & FH's family that didn't get the email &/or book accomodations. They all got Save the Dates in October though and I TOLD them to book then. No one listened.
I don't want to stalk ppl into coming to our wedding but I dont' think they understand that you have to book NOW for June in the Hamptons, ya know? ALL of FG's groomsmen haven't booked rooms. His grandmother has no room, etc...My MOH never booked a room either & now the BW is sold out so she has to stay somewhere else... you get the idea.
Of the 200 ppl invited to the wedding, 150+ don't live in NY and only 20 rooms are booked. Its practically a destination wedding... I am so on the fence about sending this letter.

I feel your pain, and am going through something similar. Actually, your post got me all fired up and when I checked my hotel stuff we ended up having a few issues that are slowly being rectified. I feel like it's overkill with all the info I send too, but sometimes you have to. Most people appreciate it, some will make fun ... like the best man. Here's his recent email:
'Thank you E and M for keeping me well informed and well educated about the wedding process. I am very satisfied with the effort you are both putting forth in order to get me the best rates available. If you want I can get my Pythons involved and make some phone calls. :) '
Anyway, I think that letter is fine and I would do the same thing. The only thing I would take out is 'As predicted.' Something about that phrase just didn't sit right.
If you feel uncomfortable, send it word of mouth. Have your mom and FH's mom call their friends & family.

Eh, think about how many people read these in detail. It should be fine. I sent a detailed card with hotel information, and some of our bridal party was like 'so where should we book? how much is it?' What did I spend all that time doing!?

I think the letter is totally fine to send out. The guests that are planning to come will really appreciate it and you are saving them the time of doing all the research themselves.
