What was your experience with OOT guests coming (or not coming...) to your wedding?
Did most of them attend?
I'm still 99% sure that the wedding will be here on Long Island since this is where my FI and I live... but he is from Hershey, PA. I'm entertaining the idea of maybe looking there for places, too. I know my family would all attend, but I guess I worry about some family friends who are really special to me not attending b/c they don't want to travel.
Was it your experience that most OOT guests came - or did many decline?

If they are important to you and FH they will make a point of coming. My FH is from PA too. We figure that if people don't want to travel then it's their own loss.

most did not come. it was very disappointing, esp. for my DH since they were on his side.

90% off my OOT guests are attending! most are from Chester county PA coming here to LI

it's a bit early to say, but most of our OOT guest are excited to come. they're coming from all over England, Haiti and Canada ( then again they are family). I'll be very disapointed if they don't show up.

I'd say that about 3/4 of our OOT guests are coming. It was a bit disappointing to hear from those who told us all along they were coming and then decided not to. My FH is from PA too...his whole bridal party is from out of town.

I would say that 99% of our OOT guests came. DH's family is from all over the country and they all flew in for the wedding.
THe only OOT guests who didn't come were my family who live in Austria. My cousin was 7 months pregnant, they were going to come, but she was too far along.

We had a very good percentage of our domestic OOT guests make the trip from VA, Arizona and Florida (>90% family and 85% friends) ...a lot of the family were pleasant suprizes and a lot of the friends probably wouldn't have come if we had the wedding in VA (alot of DHs friends are go out and party type friends and don't get that a wedding is different than any other another night out and the friends of mine that didn't come had good reason that was pretty much unrealted to the travel) ...we also had people who didn't come because they didn't want to make the trip from Huntington to Port Jefferson...people will suprize you sometimes....

My DH and I live in Dallas and our wedding was in LI. About 45% of our invited OOT guests attended. Some of them (my co-workers) I knew wouldn't attend, but we invited them anyway. But also, there were quite a few I was surprised didn't attend!!! I guess the best way to estimate is to REALLY think about the relationship you have with these people and how often you get together. we only had about three OOT guests that did not attend and they weren't very close to DH or I, OOT guests were mostly his side and the ppl he was close with came. My advise have it where the two of you want to...the important ppl with be there

we have a lot of OOT guests coming!! some are college friends and some are family...i think you never really can tell who is going to attend and who isn't. we had some real surprises from people in and out of town.

I am not from LI so practically all of my side was OOT. People came from California, Nevada, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Pennsylvania & NJ.
Of course, some didn't come as well. It all depends on if they like to travel, I guess.

Most of my OOT guests came. We had 25 rooms at the hotel. We had people from all over- upstate, PA, VA, IL, and TX.
