As we ALL know, Saturday night weddings are so much more expensive! If i have to settle for a Friday or Sunday, which would you girls think would be better??? Im planning on December 2011....

I would say a Sunday because if it's a Friday some people may not be able to leave work early so they might miss the ceremony (which to me is most important). Unless the ceremony is later in the day.
I know you didn't ask but what about a Saturday or Sunday Day wedding

hmm i realllly wanted a night wedding! Im thinking if its a friday, we can have the ceremony at the RH... if thats the case, maybe i can do the ceremony like 6/7pm and have the cocktail hour right after - if i send save the dates out like 6 months in advance, it will give everyone time to get the day off or plan to leave early???

FRIDAYYYYY!!! Yes, people work that day but if you give them enough notice they can ask thier employer ahead of time to leave early or for the day off .

We're having a Friday night wedding so that everyone can sleep late the next day. We're having a Viennese hour so the party won't end till 1am and we don't want people to have to leave early. But I recommend starting the cocktail hour at 7 the earliest so people can get there after work. That's what we're doing.

We are having a Friday wedding as well and a lot of my guests have told me they love Friday night weddings because they 1. get an excuse to take a day off of work and 2. have the rest of the weekend to recover. :)
We are starting our cocktail hour at 7:30pm and haven't decided yet what time we will have our Ceremony.

Friday might work for a spring/summer wedding but if you're planning on December I would go with a Sunday afternoon. It gets dark early so consider your ceremony times and when you want to take pictures. If you don't want or care about outdoor pictures then Friday night would be fine.

I would say Friday but that's my personal preference..it;s up to you see what day and time you get the best deal!

Friday!!! Our ceremony will not begin until 6:30pm so it should give people plenty of time to get there. It is going to be dark already so it will give it such a romatic feeling for the ceremony with dim lights and candles. I cant wait!!!!!

I agree with you Melissa! I may actually consider 12/2/11 so we will have the same date! :) I think Friday makes more sense for us! Because at least people can sleep late Saturday!

it depends if you want day or night. if it's night do a friday if it's day then do sunday.

I agree. From past experience, I have noticed many people skip the church if you have a Friday ceremony.

I'm doing a Sunday evening wedding. I ws invited to a Friday night wedding and it was so annoying because I had to rush and get ready after work. I was so tired that night, from waking up early from work and felt like I really didn't enjoy myself. If people have a prblem with the wedding ending too late on Sunday they can leave early but I'm sure people would not mind taking Monday off to have an extended weekend. I would say Sunday evening!!

How about a Saturday noon? It was PERFECT for us, so much cheaper, and easier for all of our OOT guests (including DH and I, almost all of our guests were from OOT).

hmmm it's tough-i went to a friday night wedding; left work 1/2 day that day; but FH had a meeting and couldn't so i went to the ceremony w/out him. We met up to go to the CH later that evening together. We had a blast-ate and drank SO much. I enjoyed having the rest of the weekend ot recover!
However we went to a Sunday wedding; and i remember having a good time; but not quite the amount of fun we had at the Friday night wedding (plus different type of crowd). I remember leaving while the DJ was still playing cause we both had to work the next day. As opposed to the Friday night wedding where we danced until the last song; and the lights literally came on LOL!
Now looking at my comparison of the two...i say go with the Friday night!
ETA: I could leave work early; but he couldn't. If you're ok with a bunch of people missing the ceremony (depending on what time it is). go with the Friday.
