K, here's the situation, My fbil is throwing a surprise party for his wife the weekend before our wedding. Everyone is upset over this because they feel it is inconsiderate of him because that is when we would have our bachelor/ette parties or dinners, etc. I kind of agreed when I heard about the party but did not make a big deal of it. Now my bridal party is upset because they were planning on having bp that same night. I really don't know what to do. The funny thing is that I called her as the decoy for her party and said that she was invited to the rehersal dinner (it's really her party!) She said she couldn't attend because it was her b-day and she is either going out to dinner with her husband or if he doesn't take her out, she's going out with her friends. How do you all feel aboout this situation?

Re: opinion needed
I said that, the weekend before is St. Patty's day so they said they'd rather not.

Re: opinion needed
thats a tough one. part of me wants to be like have ur party the night of her thing since she didn't plan on coming to your thing. but then at the same time i say take the high road and go to her party. if it was me, i'd just have my BP another night and s*ck it up and go to the party.
ETA: did FBIL know that this weekend was when the B-parties were going to be? if he didn't and u just assumed he would know that this weekend was for ur b-parties you really can't blame him. but if he knew d@mn well this weekend was reserved for the ur parties then i would skip his wife's party and go out with ur girls.

how important is it for you that your FSIL be at your Bachelorette Party?

Ok, last year my friend had her bachelorette party on St.Patty's Day and it was SO MUCH FUN!!!!! I highly think you should reconsider. We all dressed in green and drank green beer and had the BEST TIME! I attached some pictures just to give you some sort of idea of the fun we had!
What about three weeks before, or on a fri/sat the day before or after the surprise party. I think if you decide to do it on the same day that she will understand or maybe you could swing by for a toast or something. Hope it all works out!
