I'm trying to get an idea of what time I should set up my reception. The church is booked in Queens for 2pm. We're taking pics right after the ceremony and then driving out to Farmingdale more than likely to the RH. 6pm should give me enough time before cocktail hour starts right?

Do you mean you want to be at the RH by 6pm or you want the CH to start at 6??
You have to figured the church is about an hour, so you should be done around 3ish and then another half hour to hour of pics and then half hour or so to get to farmingdale, depending on traffic. so you should get to RH sometime after 5...i would assume

Are you taking pics closer to church or RH? It sounds like it should be enough time. I am just thinking of traffic.

Where in Queens is your ceremony taking place? I'm a good 30-40 minutes from Farmingdale and I'm right near the Nassau border on the Queens side. Don't forget your asking your guests for the ceremony to find something to do between that and your CH.

CH starts at 6, ceremony is at a church in Middle Village right off the LIE so it's nearby in that respect. The priest told me the ceremony should be about an hour then about 45 minutes or so for the reception line and pics. ergh i don't know cause your right I dont want too much time between the church and CH cause my guests may get annoyed. I don't know....Vegas sounds better everyday i plan this!!

LOL...well some people may mind and some might not care. maybe some people have to check in to a hotel? or some people might not be completely ready and will go home to change in between if they can. hopefully people know each other and can go back to someone's house and relax until 6pm.
I know you don't want people to worry about what to do in between, but you can't worry about everyone!! That's what people keep telling me when it comes to wedding stuff and I make myself crazy figuring things out.

I know I can't worry about everyone and Im really trying not to lol. Thankfully most people live in the area so if theres time in between they'll go home, but i have a feeling they won't have so much time on their hands that it becomes a problem. Ergh Im trying not to sweat it...but it's hard!

I think you should be OK with that time frame. If you don't feel it's enough time, make it 6:30.
