Opinion of introduction songs

I know when they introduce the bridal party they use some party song or club hit. But I wanted to use a slow musical piece like 'only time' by Enya or music by Sade. Has anyone been to a wedding that they didnt use the usual 'party music' for introductions? Did it sound ok?

I have never been to a wedding that had a more mellow song. However, I will just pass on what my band leader told us when we met with him. He said the first song sets the mood and you want people up and dancing and ready to have a good time.

Just something to think about.

I have never been to one without 'party' music but I would be careful. It wont get the party started if you use something slow.

I agree, you want something exciting when you intro everyone so they can come out like rock stars! If its too slow it will be weird for them to walk out to JMO! Hey do what you want though its your wedding

My MOH had a disney theme and she had us all come to Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John.... It didn't prevent anyone from dancing later.

we had the bridal party come out to 'My First, My Last, My Everything' by Barry White...and then Tom and I came out to 'Godfather Theme' because we thought it would be funny

I don't know what I want the BP to come out to I was thinking the song 'I'm coming out'. Any suggestions? I know I want me and FH to come out to 'Heaven must have sent you'. What do you think?

Does the introduction song really get everyone up and dancing? Don't you usually have the bride and groom's first dance, which is usually slow, right after the introductions?

I don't think you need an upbeat song. Just picture in your head how you want them to come in. Do you want ti to be a slower, more elgant processional, or do you want them to burst in like rock stars? Yes, the first dance is usually after that..and THAT is usually followed by an upbeat song to get everyone going, so I think it's really your call. Make it fit the image you have in your imagination.

I have been to a ton of weddings and everyone uses somethign different. Not everyone uses clubby music. But I do believe it sets a tone for the wedding (personal opinion). I used a Disco Inferno for bridal party (joke between DH and brother) and then Love is in the Air for me and DH. Happy and upbeat songs but not techno or club music by any means. I did go to one wedding wher ethey used classical music and the bridal party was very classically introduced with the bow and everything. But then the whole wedding was lots of similar type music for hours and we were bored....

It is really up to personal taste.

I am using Emotions The Best of My Love
I agree with the others i think it is supposed to be upbeat
Because a lot of people are clapping when everyone walks in..

I was in a wedding this past weekend. They used 'Beautiful Day'by U2 for the Bridal Party and then 'I'm A Believer' from Smashmouth as the bride and groom entered.

I think you can do whatever you want, although I do agree that most people do 'upbeat' to get the crowd going. I was thinking of using 'do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight.'
