So I plan on getting a gift for my flower girl today, who also happens to be my sister... (On a side tangent, I laugh every time I think of the fact that most of you have your sister as a BM or a MOH and mine is my FG! ) Well as I posted on here a while ago, she was really sick for a while and was out of school for two weeks with something called HSP... She had been in and out of the hospital, had her blood taken like 20 times and has remained a trooper throughout! She is 6 and probably braver than I am because I would have freaked out! With that being said I want to get her something nice.. I was thinking of getting her an American Girl doll but getting a flower girl outfit for the doll to wear. Is that cheesy?? I know she has a doll that was made to look like her that she LOVES so I don't want my dad/step mom to think I am trying to replace that but really.. If she likes dolls why not get her another one? I would get her jewelry but a) she never wears it and doesn't have her ears pierced and b)that is not something SHE will appreciate any time soon, KWIM???
If It helps I am getting the the junior groomsmen (my btoehrs) $50 game stop gift cards and Lego Star Wars Cufflinks..

How about going with her to the American doll cafe/store and letting her choose one? The time you spend together will probably mean so much to her!

That would be a great idea but she lives in Suffolk Country and I am in the city and my RD is next weekend! Plus I don't know if I would be trusted to walk around the evil city with her unattended!

You can get her the doll... then when it comes you can take her to the dinner at the american girl doll place.

That is a great idea! I was thinking of doing that myself, but the American Girls dolls are a little out of my price range and I have two flower girls...
I decided to get them Build a Bears and my mom is actually going to make a replica of their dresses to dress the bears, since they love their dresses so much.
I also am getting them a rhinestone headband for them to wear the day of since they are both 'princess' type little girls and love to dress up...even if its to go to the supermarket with their mom lol.
Anyway sounds like a really cool idea! BTW can you tell me where you got Lego Star Wars cuff links??? My ringbearers (and FH) are obsessed with Star Wars and that would be the perfect gift for them!

Yeah I didn't want to spend too much either (I think with the doll and the dress it will be like $150... ) but my sister has been such a trooper through all this that I want to get her something special..
I got her a build a bear for Christmas one year.. I think those are the cutest ever!!!!
I am getting the cufflinks from etsy... The seller is named....well... Cufflinks! lol (other people on etsy have them too though) I didn't actually receive them yet because I have just been in conversation with him since yesterday but they are on sale right now.

i have a great idea for you and i think this will help you. if you want you can FM me for more info, but... what i am giving my 2 flower girls plus my little cousin which is the jr bridesmaid is an american girl doll with than a replica of their dress with the doll. i tadyhink that is the cutest and she will appreciate it, especially at that age if she still likes to play with dolls. i am actually so happy because after doing tons of research on this i came across this one amazing awesome seller women on etsy.com who does dresses and clothing for american girl dolls and any 18' inch dolls as an american girl doll. you give her a picture of the exact dress your sister will be wearing and she will make that EXACT dress for the doll. EXACTLY matching, and i am not even kidding you. she is very afordable and has great prices... i was so happy when i found her because once i did i knew right away this is it, perfect gift for the little ones. so i e-mailed her a pic of the jr bridesmaid dress and the 2 flower girl dresses and she is making the EXACT ones for their dolls, with matching shoes and tiara's for the hair. along with that i am also purchasing the dolls thru her and she is sending me it all together alredy with the dresses on, shoes and all. the dolls are very cheap and they arent the exact real american girl dolls, but the immitation replica's of american girl doll in cheaper price... let me know if you are interested in this and want her info and have anymore questions. she is an amazing seller on there and willing to work with you in price and all as she did with me and is very sweet. :)
i hope i helped! : )

That is SO CUTE!!!! I don't think that would work right now because my genius self waited until a week before the rehearsal dinner to get a gift!
How long did it take for them to make the dress? Maybe I can give the dress to her after the fact?

i think that's the sweetest idea. i don't think your family would think that you are upstaging either! i think it's so sweet of you to want to do something so adorable, especially because she'll feel important, it comes at a great age and you know she loves dolls. not to mention even when she's older, it'll mean something special! i love it! the replica of her dress is so cool, i hope if you want to do it, you can do it in time too! but even if not, it's such a sweet gift, i'm sure she'd be so excited!
eta: even if you can't get the dress made in time, that's SO cool, if you can swing it, do it! :o)

Re: Opinion on Flower Girl gift!!!! a bit long...
well ive been talking to her back and forth on convos for weeks, exchanging info and all on etsy and i finally did my payment 2 days ago and she will start my order (3 dresses, shoes and tiara) after this weekend and she said it will take her about 6 weeks to be done with all 3 dresses and shipped to me with dolls and all. if you want her info let me know! :)
you can always give her the doll with a simple cute dress and than give her the flower girl replica dress afterwards. : )
thank god i thought of this early enough and my wedding is only in november - so i have time and will have all this by than to give to them. or else id do what you said, give her the dress afterwards! :) its the thought that counts and its something special, and something she will have forever! a memorable thing of your wedding! :)
