Opinion on offering full bar at wedding POLL (please read explantation before voting)

So we are getting married at a vineyard.

We were told when we booked a year ago that we can have NO outside liqour brought in, with the exception of beer and champagne for the toast.

Their policy changed and now we CAN have our caterer provide a full service bar. but we have to hire extra bartenders.

Should we do it? We have been set for almost a year on just beer and wine, and so far our guests know it's just beer and wine allowed so at this point it would be a bonus.

Should we dish out the extra cash and offer full service bar?

Save the $$. People know what the deal is at Vineyard weddings!!

Would it be ALOT more $$? Would it put you way over budget?

If you can set it in your budget i say go for it, but if the expense is above and beyone than stick with whatcha got!

I think that if you have the extra money to put in to it then Yes.. I would have it. Not everyone likes wine and may in their own minds think that it was insuffient to just serve the wine

Honestly, I say skip it- if I was invited to a vineyard wedding, I would only WANT wine. I would definately put the money towards something else or save it- I doubt anyone will notice

Honestly....I wouldn't offer it at this point...unless it's priced so that it fits into your budget.

Plus your getting married at a vineyard...wine is what it's all about.

Beer and wine is fine - especially since that is what was planned - no need to go and change things around now or add to your budget.

I can't vote for some reason, but I'd skip the full bar. If you want to go half way, then see if you can do a signature drink or a few of them.

if you are at a vineyard - people are going to want to drink WINE...it's that simple.

don't waste your money!!!!!

I'd save the $$ and just go with what you have now, especially if people are not expecting more. Is there any way they will do a cash bar, and you just pick up the tab at the end of the night?

if most of your guests already know theres not a full bar then I think they're not going to miss it. A Vineyard wedding is expensive enough... save the cash and use it on the honeymoon.

Although I voted just leave as is...i have mixed feelings on the subject b/c I only had beer wine and soda for my eparty and 30% of the people spent their time in the bar next door getting mixed drinks...so i'm tossed.

thanks girls!!!

we were thinking of just sticking with the wine & beer just because it is a vineyard that offers amazing wines and we think people will really enjoy them

and we're already over budget!

but then again we dont want to seem cheap to our guests

to quote anamaree77 from this morning...

'2) Don't go crazy spending alot of money on a hall and then extra for special food and drinks and favors, etc. etc. It gets really expensive and once it's over, you'll wish you had gone cheaper. I think less then 50% of our guests covered their plates. Yea, I know that's not what it's all about but they would have enjoyed themselves even if I didn't have that extra AHI TUNA!!!!! and I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED having a few extra dollars for a downpayment on a house.'

I personally wouldn't. It's extra $$$ you will have in your pocket later. Especially if you are paying for it yourselves. Beer and wine is fine. It's a vineyard. I wouldn't think as a guest that I would be able to get any more than that.

If they have any idea of the cost of having a wedding at a vineyard, they will know you are not being cheap...

We went to a wedding at Raphael and we all knew it was wine & beer! I say leave it how it is!

I think you are fine with wine and beer. Especially it being at vineyard, people would probably enjoy the wine more..

But if you want to, why not!

I think if it is not an absurd amount of money to add a full bar I'd do it.

i don't think u have to put out the extra $ cuz ure already going to have a nice selection of wines etc

but a cheaper alternative (if u think there are ppl who arent okay with just the wine and beer options)...

see if the caterer and bring in those containers (nice ones with a spout) filled with like 3 types of signature drinks (there are a million cute ideas on martha stewart)....that way u dont really need the bartenders.
