Opinion on offering full bar at wedding POLL (please read explantation before voting)
Original post by KK Holiday
So we are getting married at a vineyard.
We were told when we booked a year ago that we can have NO outside liqour brought in, with the exception of beer and champagne for the toast.
Their policy changed and now we CAN have our caterer provide a full service bar. but we have to hire extra bartenders.
Should we do it? We have been set for almost a year on just beer and wine, and so far our guests know it's just beer and wine allowed so at this point it would be a bonus.
Should we dish out the extra cash and offer full service bar?

Although I voted just leave as is...i have mixed feelings on the subject b/c I only had beer wine and soda for my eparty and 30% of the people spent their time in the bar next door getting mixed drinks...so i'm tossed.
that is a very good point. My friend told me about a wedding she attended and they would have to go to the bar that was outside of the room to buy their own drinks, i think it was by the lobby and she said she felt bad bc most of the guests kept hanging out at that bar to buy drinks.
for me, i never drink wine, although i do like beer so i would be able to just drink beer. When it comes down to it, you know your guests well and if they seem fine with this so far then go for it. If you think some guests wont like this and its within your budget to add a full bar then i would go for that. What does your fh think?

If your guests already know that it is beer and wine and you are over your budget, I say skip it. I know if I was invited to a vineyard wedding I would be tasting all the wines!

FH is just as torn as me. we're going to go over pricing with our caterer.....if full service bar is within our means I think we'll add it on.

well if there is no bar for your guests to go to inside the place then i wouldnt worry about the above scenario.
Ask them to bring down the price a little bit first and then discuss it with your FH and see if its within your budget.

If it is reasonable i would add it on... but if it is too much, i would not feel bad since there will be wine and beer.

Personally, Wine makes me so sleepy and beer makes me puke. If I have a few vodka's im a much happier, Dancier person LOL so yea it's a great idea BUT ONLY...if it's not too much more money. It all depends on your budget. If it's like THOUSANDS of dollars more then forget it.

i'd add it---just because i would want everyone to have a choice of whatever they want to drink. but everyone is different.
if its not gonna kill you price wise--i'd go for it

Since it is a vineyard I totally think you can do beer and wine. How much extra is it costing you to serve liqour? If its not that much - go for it. If it is, like I said - you are getting married at a vineyard!!
