Opinion Please

Opinion Please

So my wedding is really soon, my shower was last weekend. I received most items off my registry. The only things left are my wine glasses (set of 12), towels, 3 expensive decorative items (candelsticks, vase, etc), and little odds and ends (i.e. $20 and under).

Question is, a few people have asked FH where we are registered and I guess are planning on buying us something for the wedding? All the weddings I have gone to, we just give an envelope. My family is from NJ, so not sure if they will bring $ or want to give gifts.

Do you think I should add to my registry? If so, what are typical wedding gifts? I would think the small items, i.e. colander are more for a shower?

it might be a good idea to register for more things just in case...... although if you don't it might persuade them to give you cash

I have never brought a gift to a wedding either...I have always given a card with $$$.
Do you really need anything else?? I think once they look at your registry and see that everything has been purchased they would just gift you a monetary gift instead. I dunno! I wouldn't add anything...jmo. Good luck!

That's what I'm hoping!

Show me the money baby

We live together and I am a real practical person, so I don't want a lot of stuff I can't use right now (we are in an apt and will be buying one soon, so will live in an apt for another 5 yrs at least). I am looking and looking at BBB and Fortunoff where I registered but all I keep finding are little odds and ends, i feel like no one would buy me as a wedding gift anyway.

Not necessarily, then people will just buy anything.

OH - I think BBB gives cash back for returned registry items.

Register there, return for cash...

Suggestion: Register for a couple of expensive items at BB&B. After the wedding, return them for Ca$h!!

This is a toughy. If you register for more things then they might buy you them and bring them to your reception. If you don't register for more things then the might just buy you something random. I don't know what is the better idea. Hopefully they give you $$$!

Hmm I say . Try to hint to them that you got everyhitng off of your registry and whatever you didn;'t get was bought using gift cards. Face it.. I dont think gifts are appropriate to bring for a wedding but if they really can;'t afford to give you what they really want, then maybe suggest a store that you like to go to and possibly gift cards?

I might register for a few more things...being young and not having a lot of money, I always buy gifts b/c it feels like a better gift than giving a less impressive amount of cash. Granted, I live in PA so I haven't been to an LI wedding as an adult....the most I have spent on a wedding gift is $100 (granted these people were not that close to me). So, it's kind of a different perspective....if it were me, I would want there to be some things on the registry to buy....

Re: Opinion Please

you can register for some extra things but envelopes are very popular in this area. sometimes people just opt not to get the less expensive stuff.

i dont think you'll have to worry

typical gifts are fancy vases, frames, etc.
