We just went to Danford's and I love it . I just want to know if you think the price is about right. It is $117 pp that foreeverything including the tax and gratuity. We get a full cocktail hour- tons of food,- buffet reception-carving station, pasta station, wok station plus salads and 6 entrees. We also get the cake,Viennese platters, bridal suite and free room that night. plus the usual-linens, directions, place cards, personal maitre'd, etc. I really want to book it but my FH thinks it is a bit expensive for a Sunday afternoon. Is it?

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
Is that a Sunday afternoon of a holiday weekend or a regular Sunday?

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
For a Sunday afternoon it is a little on the pricey side, but then again it's all in what you want.
If it fits your budget and you are in love with the place, don't second guess yourself.
Did you try to negotiate that down at all?

How many people do you plan on having? You just have to consider is it something you can afford? If you love it and can afford it I say go for it, it does seem high for a Sun wedding in general but i don't know much abut that place. You are getting a lot included in that too...

i think its a little pricey for a sunday afternoon... and a buffet reception.. I had a friend getting married at east wind on a sunday afternoon and they were paying around $95 for A LOT of food and it was not buffet either...
but hey, if u guys can afford it, GO for it! and DEFINATLY negotiate that price before you book! get them down to atleast 110! GL!

It sounds a little pricy for a Sunday afternoon wedding.. even though it'a a holiday.. and you have \such a small invite list.. I would definitly try and talk them down to $100-110 a person.. OR for that much, have them throw in a full Viennese hour..

I met with Michael from Danford's a few months ago, and for a Sunday wedding on a 3 day weekend, he quoted $100pp that includes everything (tax, gratuities, lines, cake, a room for the night, open bar, cocktail hour, etc..), so I would try to get them to come down more.

Oh - I didn't see this post. That's why they quoted you more - because their minimum was 90 or 100 - I forget.

maybe it was a little bit more money per head b/c they are only having 55 people-- my hall went down in price when we guaranteed more... perhaps that is why there is a difference? ETA: I just saw that you noticed that-- then that's probably why. I would say that you are good to go b/c that seems like a good price for a small group

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
that is not that high. we had a sunday afternoon wedding and with all extras and what not it came out in that range, if not higher with tax.

It does a sound a bit pricey for a Sunday, but you are getting a lot for your money. It also depends on how many people you plan on inviting. If it's what you want then I say go for it.

I think its high for a buffet. At the very least that price should be sit down.

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
Honestly I think it is a weeeeeeeeee bit pricey for a Sunday Afternoon.. but since it is a holiday, maybe that is about right?
But if this is the place that YOU love and the place that YOU want and the place that will make YOU happy on YOUR wedding day - and if it fits into YOUR budget.... I say GO FOR IT!
I didn't want to pay what I paid for my hall.. but I fell in love!

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
I guess maybe I can negotiate, it is now $104 pp with tax, service charge and all that good stuff still thrown in. Now I need to convince DF to agree, any ideas what I can ask for that they might include that will sway my dear husband to be to say yes? He is on the verge because he likes the place to and I think if they add one more thing in he will be all for it. What can or should I ask for?

Re: Opinion -reception hall price
they always get you for tax and tip. but the less people you have the more they usually jack up the price. I think that if you loved the place you should book it. They say a wedding is a once in a livetime thing.

That seems very high to me for a Sunday afternoon. have you looked into other places that cater to parties of a 100 or less? Milleridge Cottage is lovely.
