My fiance and I just received a wedding invitation. My fiance is one of the groomsmen and the groom is in our bridal party as well. I was invited to the girls shower, we hang out with them pretty often, and she knows my full name from x-mas cards, shower thank yous and so on. Me and my fiance also live together..
When the invitation came it said my fiances name and guest........I was quite offended by it.....Am I wrong to feel that way???

Re: OPINIONS
Yea, that is really weird!! Is there a chance that she didn't send them out, maybe her parents sent them out (if they're paying for the wedding) and they don't know your name?
Still tho, it's wrong. Bad etiquette on her/their part.

Re: OPINIONS
I bet their following the etiquette nazi's orders....
I've read one some odd wedding website that you always put + guest on an invitation to a person who isn't married.....
I read that and thought to myself '$#@t no!'
Sometimes, while writing those things out, people lose their common sense, not to mention their sense of wrong and right....
sorry that happened to you! If it makes you feel better, I'm not too sure my name was on FH's invitation to his brothers wedding either....

Re: OPINIONS
3 websites i found
Address the inner envelope with your friend's name followed by 'and Guest' if the invitation extends to an unknown escort: - Mr. Larson and Guest - Miss Anderson and Guest
If inviting an unmarried couple living together, put names in alphabetical order by last name (the man's name does not automatically go first). Ms. Jennifer Aniston Mr. Bradley Pitt
Two unmarrieds living together as a couple Ms. Sherri Davis Mr. Steven Smith Mr. Michael Davis Mr. Steven Smith

Re: OPINIONS
I know how you feel. A friend of FH's that he's known for about 8 years now and they get together maybe 3 times a year for an islander/ranger game did something similar. I invited him and his FW (was his gf at the time) to a surprise 40th bday that I had for FH last March. He knows we live together and he knows we got engaged in September (two months before they did) They are getting married next month and he sent the invitation as FH's name and guest. I felt like that was rude. Like he wasnt sure who FH would bring...as if he was just dating someone or if he or his FW didnt know my name. After that I was a little insulted. We're not going to the wedding anyway though.

I would be offended too!
Maybe it's just an oversight? was the addresses mass printed on labels or something? maybe they didnt set up their database correctly and Word did it by default?

Re: OPINIONS
I would feel insulted. FH is BM in his friend's wedding in March and he is in our wedding and I barely know his fiance and she put my full name, so it seems a little weird that she didn't put your full name. I wouldn't give it much thought though.

Re: OPINIONS
I would be offended..This past November my FH's friend got married. He's been friends with him for many years (although we don't really hang out with them often). When the invitation came, it didn't even say 'and guest'..it just had his name!! Mind you, we were already engaged at that point and living together!
My FH was so insulted and mad and decided he didn't want to go. I mean even if they couldn't remember my name ( although they could have called my FH or one of the other friends), than put 'and guest'!

Re: OPINIONS
i would be offended - it has happened before - with parties not weddings and i always hate it
BUT
in the bride's defense - sometimes if you get your envelopes addressed they are super strict about it. . . i know a bride who just gave in and told hte lady to just put 'and guest' bc she insisted, none of her friends were engaged and she didnt have a great website like LIW to ask other brides so she just assumed the lady was right ( yeah technically it is proper but it still stinks!

Re: OPINIONS
I dont think you are wrong. BUT let me say this-FHs cousin got married last year (oops 05) and put & guest...let me also say that FH and I were together before they even started dating I was offended and when I said this to my FMIL she said 'etiquette says & guest right?' If their parents helped out they may have told them that wast he right thing to do b/c they dont know
